It's also a very common experience to enjoy things many others would consider boring. A classic hot chocolate on a snowy day is just as kino as skydiving for some. Problem is this type of writing forced it to be niche. These characters are either incredibly uninteresting or just annoying. I actually don't care if they live. Carol is the only one who is so pathetic in a wounded puppy kind of sense that you can't help but gravitate towards her, but the VA (Whose name I forget but I know was in Baskets) is powerlifting the fuck out of this character. "They're supposed to be mundane!" does not captivate an audience. Carol is pathetic and she's still quite charming.The commercial art style really put me off and I have a hard time being interested in existential stories that never dwell on spirituality. And I don't just mean, "Everyone turns to religion near the end because they're panicked!", but the real contemplation that every has of, "What happens when I die?". I feel like many writers don't want to explore that because they've already come to a concrete conclusion in their mind, so any form of research or exploration to make your script better could radically change that.

They set up the premise about WFH types navel gazing about their status quo being disrupted, which could be the start of something grounded in life, but it avoids questioning load bearing beliefs or consequences outside that worldview. Making it covid instead of the end of the world would make the stakes make sense but not fix thematic limitations so idk if it would help the show.
