Comics legend John Byrne bridges the gap between the X-Men’s classic and all-new, all-different eras! In this series, skillfully woven between the X-Men’s 1970 cancellation and 1975 revival, just the first issues for this series today anon been busy with the snow with the shovel. will do more of it soon
>>151936515>been busy with the snow with the shovelAre you a Leaf?Thank for storytime nonetheless.
Right that's all see you next time
bump, but this is all bullshit
>>151936515Kurt Busiek pitched this idea earlier in the wake of "Untold Tales of Spider-Man" and Byrne probably would have been better off with him (or Fabian Nicieza or some other writer from that school) doing the scripting on this one. It's odd that Byrne will always be best known for his work developing the rebooted X-Men but he seems to have been in the camp that didn't really care for the reboot all that much. His heart seemed to be with the Silver Age team.
>>151936719>Bobby's whole character arc in this series depends on him being straightIt was a better time.
>>151939566The issue was less Byrne needing a scripter to write dialogue and narration for his stories, and more him needing a co-plotter for this book to stop the series meandering and storylines dragging on as much as they did. It could've been a lot better if it was more focused and with less subplots that take forever to go anywhere.Byrne was a fanboy who turned pro, so it's probably not surprising he cares more about the X-Men from when he was a reader to the mid-70s new characters introduced not that long before he started working on the book. Byrne and Claremont having such a turbulent working relationship probably didn't help.
>>151940095Lorna got stuck with a dud, but it wasn't the worst dud possible.
>>151936515Byrne supposedly wanted to use Hidden Years to fix Magneto, revealing the origin and backstory Claremont had given him were just false memories Xavier had implanted to try and make him more manageable. Legend has it that Byrne actually had the pages drawn, but editorial wouldn't allow it. Magnetofags were absolutely chimping out about Byrne.
>>151940347What did he have proposed as Magneto's actual origin then? A child who suffered greatly and then inflicted similar atrocities in the name of his own people works well.
>>151941120>What did he have proposed as Magneto's actual origin then?I don't know if he's ever talked about it, but anything else had to be better, especially if it wasn't trying to make him sympathetic or pretend he was motivated by "muh people".
