Say something about it.
Anomalisa, could I get a date on FridayAnd if you're busy then maybe I could take Saturday-ay-ay
>>151937639>this and Memoir of a Snail are the only rated R movies nominated at the Oscars for Best Animated Feature>kiddy movies have dominated this award for over two decadesNot beating those "animation is for kids" allegations anytime soon.
I did not see it.
>>151937639Assuming that Lisa was an actual person, was she retarded? Bitch couldn't even walk correctly
Should have just been a short. Stretched way too thin. And as much as I liked CK early on, his worldview began to grate on me. The animation is nice.
>>151937639This movie is 10 years old now
Pirandello literature but for midwits
>>151938006Why haven't you seen Anomalisa, anon?
>>151937639I never saw it
>>151937639It's a movie alright
>>151938006Me neither, it looked rather dull and like it had no real reason to be animated rather than live action beside as a gimmick. Plus I think the theme was human relationships, I can't relate.
>>151941295>it had no real reason to be animated rather than live action beside as a gimmickIt DID have good reason to be animated. The whole point of the movie is he sees everyone around him with the same face/voice regardless of age/gender/etc, and that's why he ends up so enamored with Anomalisa because she's actually different somehow. It would have been too weird and obvious if they had just CGIed the same face on everyone and dubbed the voices. Not to mention way more expensive. Them being dolls reinforces that he can't see people as real individualsYou try making it live-action and you end up with something like this scene from Being John Malkovich:https://youtu.be/lIpev8JXJHQ?t=56
>>151941524That scene was highlarious
>>151937639This is one of my favorite movies and I don't know why it's ignored by everyone except diehard Kaufman fans. It's more accessible than Being John Malkovich or Synecdoche, New York.
>>151938089She's supposed to be a normie. 95 IQ, but sweet.
>>151941524I didn't realize everyone had the same face or voice until Lisa spoke. I just thought all the women were voiced by men for some reason. Tom Noonan has great vocal range.
>>151942435because none of them are particularly good
>>151942451>I didn't realize everyone had the same face or voice until Lisa spokeYeah that's what I meant by saying it "would have been too... obvious" if they tried to do the same thing with live-action. Your mind kind of just accepts that all the stop-motion dolls sort of look and sound the same without questioning it much. Similar to how you wouldn't question why everyone in an Anime has the same face with superficial changes like hair and clothes. In old South Park most of the characters had the same faces and were often voiced by the same people (Matt/Trey) barely changing their voices and you don't question it.If it was live-action it'd be much more obvious what was happening right from the start.
