What do you mean by 'harrowing'? I'm unfamiliar with it being used in a context that would make A Serious House on Serious Earth harrowing.
I think Enigma might be applicable. Ditto for [parts of] Sandman.

nah it was easy to read, but when it came to jokers dialogue i had to re-read it about 5 times trying to decipher what it means, english is my first language aswell so i cant imagine how some ESL would read it
