Would Pat Lee's art be so hated if it wasn't for how Dreamwave went down?
PossiblyHe got the job BECAUSE people wanted him on Transformers
>>151941402The TF Wiki crowd and other 'organized fandom' circles were already complaining about Pat Lee's art from the early days of Dreamwave TF, but those books were pretty popular and sold well, so people might not have listened to those guys if DW didn't end the way it did.If only they'd held it together for another year or two. And if only they'd paid everyone, so all the books they published could be reprinted.
>>151941424Isn't Wizard full of insider guys?
>>151941402Tbh probably not. He's a worse Figuroa, yeah, but broadly speaking, while he did have fuck ups most of the time they weren't anywhere near as egregious as the famous "what the fuck even are these proportions/these perspective angles" optimus from that one splash page.He does have a fair number of fuck ups, but usually while in the same vein they're way more minor than any of the big ones. The worst one that was generally frequent AND noticeable without hunting for it was usually his facial expressions being roughly the same all the time and him not being good enough at angles or lighting to try and make those stiff expressions look different like how some of the toys are designed to work [Combiner Wars Menasor, for all it's other problems, has a neat headsculpt that's designed to give an entirely different impression based on viewing angle, for example.] so they really stand out as characters just gormlessly gapping at nothing.
>>151941402anon, look at the way Devastator's legs are attached to his hips there - they aren'tthey're just kind of in front of it because Pat Lee lacks object permanence; he realized that and went back and drew in some black blocky crap underneath, but it doesn't work because none of the figures here are even in the same perspective as themselves, let alone each other, they're just kind of there like some medieval chapbook crap>>151941424>Blade Runner-esqueimagine virtue signalling that you've never even seen Blade Runner
