They/them is a tranny psyop since it always referred to the plural not the singular until very recently. He used to also pull double time as a gender non-specific pronoun until women and trannies whined about it. Also, I don't know, the show felt like it was supposed to be more "wholesome 'horror'" and was probably supposed to stay that way for longer than it did, but I think after enough complaints about the loud distorted meme-horror music and complaints about Jonah panting like a sperg and freaking out at Zag, the Mangan sisters toned it down.
Plus the fanbase mostly seems to like the "horror but not" vibe, which I'm sure was leaned on as well, to the dismay of those horror theorycrafting niggeretards that keep going "gabbys ACTUALLY super evil and she's gonna eat everyone just you wait *draws black scribbles over her mouth liek an eveil smile*"
