Isn't that basically heavily implied with a few murders? like she kidnapped them and tortured them for weeks straight until they were killed? Not all of them but the quick and dirty one for me also are obvious. Skinning people is also not that hard, trust me. Ripping people limbs off is much harder but again, just get an heavy enough blade.

A lot of the criticism I saw was just people not understanding what is left implied but unsaid. That is just hard to take seriously. I've been on the receiving end of this sorta of thing before and is very frustrating, specially over something you consider to be obvious.

Okay, the Descent, that's a gory fucking movie with a lot of body horror including a realistic emergency medical scene where they have to reset the bone on a girl's broken leg without anesthetic.

Even compared to other formulaic horror, those are on the variables of how they get the kill, how they toy with the victim, THEN the nitty gritty shit.

The reason the analog horror isn't good is because you never feel any real fear surrounding Mona.
She's supposed to be a realistic killer but we never really get the sense of her picking or stalking her victims. Almost acting like a complete random home invader. Thing about horror is you have to have some vague sense of rules that grounds your killer. And like people have pointed out, the cops here are incompetent in a very unrealistic way. 911 gets called while she's breaking in, she gets her kill, does a bit of her work, and leaves sometimes taking the body, and the emergency services just don't get there?
She's a supposedly realistic killer, yet her ridiculous efficiency cancels that out to make her feel unreal.
It feels like what he was going for would have worked better in the context of a Michael Myers-esque vaguely supernatural slasher rather than something so realistic.

If you stretch the definition of animation to include something that has occasional moving pictures and a CG section, then wouldn't something like Avatar be more deserving of being /co/ than it?

Like the nightstalker? This sorta of thin happens. Is pretty realistic and it makes sense it would be harder to catch her since there is no pattern, she just picks people at random or the people she think will be easier.

And yeah, cops are in general very incompetent, by the vibes of the series I think is kinda based around the 70's. Before the internet and cameras where everywhere this sorta of thing was common and much harder to catch. I can see why someone younger would not realize that instinctively, tho.

I think the entire point is that she is not ultra efficiently, she is just elusive and the cops are incompetent plus scared to do much thinking they may be the next ones, if you ever read about real serial killer cases is basically how it went down, this version is just more exaggerated.
