What do I have to do to become a well known VA in an indie darling town? I want to become well liked.

Show*. Stupid typo

voice a gay character without being "too white", that seems to be the golden ticket.
>>

Okay let me rephrase my question. How do I even meet someone who is producing a show and would want me to voice his gay character?

Agree to work for a scam mystery box webtroon

Make videos showing your voice and gaining an audience or friends who do the same.

Accept literally every project for free. You will become the next Michael Kovach unless your voice acting is so bad people don't want you

I really don't like Michael. Not because he's bad, he's clearly good at what he does. My problem with him is that people treat him like he's God's gift to indie animation. Guy is good but he's not that good

Try out for every single indie project you can. Also do just one voice. It'll take longer to get noticed if you have range.

Practice acting, make a voice reel, share it with anyone open for casting and hope that any role you’ve been given is in something that’s popular.

Make your own content, do parodies or something. Some of the 2010s VAs got popular and attracted their VA work that way. Doesn’t work unless you’re good at it though.

Do funny voices on YouTube to demonstrate your craft
>>

Post a vocaroo of your voice and I'll tell you.

Unironically this. Comic dubs, story readings, your own miniature animations, anything you can do to get your voice out there. Make sure you have a good enough setup that your voice comes out crisp and clear - no Xbox 360 mic shit. And obviously your acting has to be on point, funny voices will only get you so far.
