It and Uncle Grandpa got overlooked and hated upon by some of the older audiences because it was just a simple episodic funny cartoon rather than a cartoon with deep, intricate lore for them to overthink about. It got screwed over at a time because Skyler Page had a mental breakdown and touched a nobody storyboard artist who over-exaggerated the incident.Clarence was a great show with a lot of soul to it who just had the misfortune of coming out during an era where people stopped liking episodic slice-of-life shows. It was a great show with fun characters, silly stories, emotional soft spots and - most importantly - a show that truly feels that it's about "children being children".
