>Comic book based on existing thing>Huge chunks of it are just retelling that thing beat for best instead of new storiesIt always feels like such a waste.
Could probably do two series, one focused on adapting and the other on original tales.
>>151962683Most publishers don't have the resources for something like that unless the brand is a huge pull. Like, even TMNT would likely struggle with that.
>>151962664Really? Because once they got past the first year of retelling the first two MM games, it was almost all new stories with at most a vague retelling of the crappy visual novel game nobody liked, and only when it was about to get cancelled did they finally reach MM3.
>>151962936That's 24 out of ~48 issues. And they burned even more time on stuff like an X pitch and other forms of sequel teasing. The original content was the minority of the book.Anyway, thread isn't just about Mega Man. A lot of books based on not-comics spend a lot of time retelling stuff they'd be better off not.
>>151962664>beat for bestExactly. Why fuck with perfection any harder than needed? Nobody gives a shit about Deviantart OC Quakebitch
>>151963080Why even have a comic if you're just going to tell the same story again but worse?
>>151963080>Why fuck with perfection any harder than needed?Anon are you really going to sit here and telling going through the exact same motions 10+ fucking times is your idea of a perfect Mega Man adaptation?
>>151962664>didn't read if for the family dynamics and fun villainsThere's a reason all the levels and bosses are sped through. It's about the story going with it. You get enough time with the various robot masters and they all have personalities. Quick Man was a great antagonist. Wily hasn't been that good since the Ruby Spears cartoon. Rock is such a cinnamon roll. And Roll is also a cinnamon roll. And there's also the waifubots. The real problem is that it fucking ended.
>>151962664That's what an adaptation is dumbass.
>>151962664So you're saying you wish Megaman had arcs wasted on lesbian and enby OCs?
>>151962664you can go to mega/gigamix for that, it retells mm3 in the middle for some reason but the rest is what you're looking for
>>151965371The ideal situation is one comic for the fucking insanity and another as close to by the books that isn't a slide show of the games.
>>151962664Why would you want to read a story about [specific thing] that doesn't talk about what happened in [specific thing]?You're either going to have two types of stories with something like this. Either it's going to be just a retelling of events that people already know, or it's going to be awful fanfiction-tier writing about pointless drama. Given that the same company had been writing Sonic for decades using exclusively the fanfiction-tier, I can appreciate that they decided to inject some content from the source material in this one. Plus, in case you didn't notice, there was quite a lot of fanfiction happening even during the "official game" contents. There's nothing in the plot of MM1 about Mega Man getting worn down and feeling desperation, there's nothing in the plot of MM2 about Mega Man getting infected by a Wily virus that was warping his morality, etc. So I'm not sure exactly what you wanted to see.
>>151965005>gifI totally forgot she existed
>>151965407I'll never get the kind of person who shits their pants over new content in extended materials.
