What does /co/ think of the Korean movie Padak?

I'm kind of sad that years of misuse by shit filmmakers has pretty well poisoned the term "Subverted expectations" because I genuinely feel this one defies anything you could expect going in, but in the best possible ways. If you treat this movie like you would a wartime escape movie or horror movie, it's the best of the best in the animated front. Everything looks raw and weird, the characters are in constant danger and you have no idea who's going to make it out alive, if anyone. The goal is simple and the struggle understandable, but it's really the near misses and lost chances that other films would've had go off without a hitch that makes every escape attempt a real threat.The idea that of all of them the grumpy older character is the one to escape is something no other studio would really attempt. Even in the few reviews I saw they complained he survived and insisted he should've given his life to save Padak at the end as a redemption, completely missing not only the point but demanding it go back in line to a safe route because they don't want the "Wrong person" to survive. If you want to see an animated movie that you will genuinely have no comparison to, this one is absolutely recommended. If you were looking for an animated movie that mixes horror and uses their animal characters perfectly, its a must see. If you don't really like sad movies, and that's completely valid, avoid it.
