Do you think it's petty to base villains off of people you have a personal grudge with?
>>151966001*Remembers, Chris Chan...*Yeah I guess when you have grudge that lasts for years.
>>151966001If it's done well I don't see the issue, like if it doesn't interfere with the character being well written or distract from the overall narrative. Like him being based on Eisner being funny aside, Farquad is still an entertaining and fitting bad guy for the film so it's not an issue at all he's based on a real guy in a petty take that.
>>151966166>>151966001I think of Dr Evil from Austin powers as an example of it being done well. If the character is written well enough for even those not in on the joke then it's just an Easter egg for those who are in on it
Lord Farquaad did nothing wrong. debate me.
Lord Fardshart lol
>>151966001One of the greatest pieces of literature was founded on this principle
>>151966369>>151966379He fucking got you, dude
>>151966369I Can't, he was a fair player to Shrek and kept his word by sending the fairy tale creatures away from his swamp when he brings him the princess. Shrek should have stayed home and not break into the wedding.
>>151966369>manlet
>>151966285>I think of Dr Evil from Austin powers as an example of it being done well.Isn't he just a parody of Blofeld from James Bond? Who was he based on?
When your personal grudge is because of an incident where said person refused to give you a promotion because you asked for someone's job immediately after they died in a horrific accident, it might be a little petty
>>151966483His voice and mannerisms are based on Lorne Michaels. Though I don't think it's an attack on him or anything. More an homage.
>>151966001what is your motivation?if it's >hopefully others who see themselves in this guy are going to learn the right way to act, maybe even the guy I'm mad at will learnthen that's goodif>I hope everybody fucking hates this guy, and everyone who sees themselves in him will loathe themselves and die or at least enjoy a lower quality of life compared to minethat's bad
>>151966434the stupid part is that 'fairy tale creatures' are a thing that exists as its own categorythat's the dumbest fucking trope, and I can't believe it's still being used as recently as that Grimm Sisters show (but with an even stupider appellation)you have to have a powerfully dumb mind to be okay with that being the concept. Especially when fairy tales THEMSELVES are about the conflict between normies and magical beings. Those are called FAIRIES.'the old woman who lived in a shoe' is probably not a fucking fae who's stealing people's kids and eating them. Hansel and Gretel are not magic. The fucking witch is. make her and her kind the villain-group.
>>151966001Is it petty? Yes. But also pretty funny.
>>151966646You're thinking too deeply into this. The whole Farquaad hating fairy tales was just a statement by Dreamworks on then CEO Michael Eisner and Disney as a whole.
>>151966001>Write and portray a caricature of some dude you and your wife were beefing with>Not just that but also have him die violently Based or cringe?
I don't know what grudges you people are talking about
>>151966862okay but that isn't entertaining
>>151967104we weren't supposed to like Nicepool?
>>151966001Freddy Krueger was named after a guy who bullied Wes Craven in school
