What was the 2000s version of the 90's Anti-Hero?
>>151973890we didn't have any, our generation is known for being generous, lovely, inclusive and completely against all kinds of violence
>>151973890tacticool "realism" (see Ultimates)
>>151973925What the hell are you talking about? The 2000's were probably the easiest and most violent time in American media ever,
>>151973890A scruffy, buzz-cut military guy who uses boring real-world guns. He’s not a silent protagonist or a fun 90's wise-cracking action hero. He’s serious all the time and honestly he’s just not fun.
>>151974251hot take but I hate this era of character design more than SJW/woke or whatever the fuck label you go by now. I just don't like playing as some baldy and I'll take even some obese black rainbow haired thing because at least it's funny how stupid that is visually compared to how try hard Jason statham wannabes are.
>>151973890Anti-gov edgy. Wildstorm, the Authority, Civil War.
>>151973925Thats the 10s after main street realized people would tear their asshole apart if shit got bad and better to drown everything in forced inclusion.
>>151974762I completely disagree with your take, but one thing we probably both agree on is that the wisecracking, over the top action hero like Duke Nukem, paired with hypersexualized bimbo's in bikinis, has more in common with the 'woke' era than with realistic military shooters. Whether the boomers and Gen-Xers like it or not, the media they grew up with, from Mel Brooks movies to George Carlin was basically the precursor to wokeness. You can't pretend to be a conservative Christian and think that George Carlin, the guy who insulted Christianity (and only Christianity) for half of his career, would agree with you.
>>151973890Real-heroes. Basically, real superheroes that shrug upon the classic stuff like suits or mid battle quips. They usually wear leather because Matrix was popular.>>151973991Its basically 616 but edgy, ain't no realism in there.
>>151973890Ennisher
>>151975461That's why realism is in quotes.
