She also received a stuffed tiger from Pete which she took as an "engagement tiger" as he'd been wanting to propose.Bull's conditioned continued to worsen leading to Linda to decide to retire in order to care for him. However, one night he'd found the keys that she'd hidden and drove off the (possibly) same road Wally had crashed on, dying immediately. At his funeral, Les bemoaned being unable to get over being bullied while some time afterwards, Buck Bedlow attempted to hit on Linda only to be rebuffed. Wally's classmate Adeela, meanwhile, had been hired to work at Montoni's but was grabbed by ICE who mistaked her for another person; only the intervention of Bill Clinton saved the day.Meanwhile, Les allowed Mason to option Lisa's Story but acted like a child about it, including not allowing Mason to view the tapes Lisa had made and being pissy over the casting of Mariane Winters to place Lisa. But called out to assist with the production Les began to change his mind. But things were complicated when an errant golf swing and climate damage sparked a giant wildfire that threatened Los Angeles. While holing up on Mason's boat, Les was able to talk to Marianne and was convinced enough to give his full blessing over the movie.

The start of Dinkle working with the St. Spires choir in Centerville, because if there's one thing Funky Winkerbean needed it was more Crankshaft characters. It feels like Batiuk was basically trying to use the strip to acclimate people who didn't read Crankshaft to that strip in order to get them to start reading it in preparation of Funky's ending.Me, I couldn't care less for the most part.

From Dinkle and Centerville old fucks to Battom Thomas to Funky pandemic anecdotes to Atomik Komix. Yeah, this isn't setting the world on fire. In fact, I'd say that 2021 is easily the single worst year in the entirety of the strip's run. There's no real stories, what we get is really fucking boring and it's all focused largely on the dullest characters in the strip.

For as much as Batiuk goes on about how magical he finds comics, I feel like he cares more about the covers than the actual content behind them. Think of how many of these stories about Atomik Komix aren't about the stories themselves but characters gushing over covers.
Now we're spending the month of August with Les. Also, I think Cayla's entire character at this point is "Les's wife who loves shopping."
