Pic related sums up what I think about Molina's movies in a nutshell.
>Left is Elio the Virgin trying way too hard to be cringy
>Right is Coco the Chad just being himself

Elio's uglier than Klasky-Csupo art style and being too much of a personal story compared to most other Pixar originals made it a doomed concept from the start. Seeing people guilt tripping others into seeing this shit simply because it's an "original movie" was one of the biggest copes I've ever seen. And its Steven Universe art style alone makes me glad it bombed as hard as it did so Pixar can stop its directors from picking this art style again. Seeing execs get BTFO by that Arizona test screening audience was based, though. It shows how disconnected Molina and others were from what the general audience wanted to see.

Coco is obviously his best movie by far. It not only had an interesting hook, but it also had a better art style than Elio and it actually looks like a Pixar movie.

Looks like Glordon's about to get his Glord on.

Didn't Elio end up getting directed by Turning Red's director? It was a different story back when it was showed for the first time, Elio felt a lot less like a quirky chungus and more like a scaredy cat, the aunt was his mom and the setting looked darker

>too much of a personal story
I don't think that's a bad thing, I mean the kind of story it was gonna be would've alienated this place's audience most probably but personal stories do work when done well and with some auto-criticism, look at "The mitchells"
>Art style
not that I cared much about it but I could've seen them getting a better design for a space themed movie
