Why is it more common for educational shows for preschoolers to exist than ones for older kids? Every now and then there's been ones for older kids like Captain Planet, Carmen Sandiego, the stuff on PBS Kids Go like Cyberchase, and the ones that were on Discovery Kids like Kenny the Shark, Tutenstein, and Time Warp Trio, but even then, there's always been way more educational shows for preschoolers than older kids

because the older you get, the more likely you are to get your education from school, parents, peers, or literally anywhere other than the television

I wonder if you could make something that's legitimately funny as well as educational but not in a pandering kind of way. If I just spent all day at school, I'm going to want to unwind with something funny before I have to do homework.
