A lot of times you don't have to come up with an image in your mind, but keep doodling until something gives you a good image/idea.Then you can start placing the lines, and manipulating them, until it looks good "in front of you" and not "in your mind"The trick is I think is if you see it, and change it as you are looking at it, you can change it with your drawing.Don't be discouraged about it, there's a lot of ways around a solution!As for the depth and such, you can overcome that with assistants in your drawing tool. I can say the same.Also, don't give up basically, and do not be scared to experiment. If you don't you might get stuck.And also, you have to have fun.To improve on things there are some tricks you can use, one of them is if you like how an artist does something, you can try copying it, and picking other things from other artists. But do remember to stay unique, instead of fully copying a style. That, in my opinion, ruins the uniqueness of each artist.

Do this several times over a week and see if you can't start to visualize it when you cover it, or when you close your eyes. I started out taking art classes when I was very young and we'd do exercises like that often and I quickly became a compulsive doodler, and as I looked at things and drew them more often my ability to visualize objects without having them infront of me became progressively better.
