Why was it not considered as good as Transformers Prime when it comes to the Transformers fandom? It did well enough to get 100 episodes, though it was also cheap to make

The humans were actually better than the robots in this show.
>>
Related to OP question, but has there even been a "good" Transformer show since Prime?

Because to this day, whenever I see people discussing TF shows, it seems to still be all "G1, Beast Wars, Animated, Prime".
(I mostly dropped out of the fandom during Cyberverse and don't know what came after)
>>
>>151982296
Cyberverse season 3 and 4 are surprisingly good, but you have to force your way through it, since S1 is a slogfest and S2 is mid.
>>
>>151983254
i second Cyberverse, its definitely the best one.

I still can't tell if WFC Trilogy or EarthSpark is the worst of the recent ones though between these two, they leave so much to be desired.

It's for little kids anon.
I'm sure it's fine, but come on.

>>151982117
I thought the general consensus was that it was better than Prime.

It was a very good show, but it's also pretty underrated.

The answer to this is very simple and obvious, OP: It's a little kid show, so not as many people watched it. It's a GREAT little kid show, don't get me wrong, but it and Prime have very different target audiences.
>>151982296
There was a good series directly after Prime: RID15.
Cyberverse and BotBots were also good.
Cyberworld is fun if you get past the ADHD pacing.
I haven't watched RB Academy.

Because Prime overshadows it despite being better than the former. Most Transformers fans believe themselves super edgy for rejecting anything deemed a little "kiddy" in style.

RiD2015 is fine for what it is, it's not ambitious but it's fine and follows up on it's set ups well enough. Had it not followed up Prime it'd probably be decently regarded like Cybertron or Cyberverse; not standout but well enjoyed by it's audience.
Modern TF aesthetics being so bland is a big reason no one is really talking about newer cartoons though
>>
>>151982117
This series takes place in the same universe as Transformers Prime, so it's inherently good.

why didn't you guys tell me Armada was so comfy and aesthetic? I would have watched it way sooner
>>
>>151986219
I started watching it recently, the ultra slow pacing typical of early 2000's weekly anime is killing me but I'm forcing my way through it
>>
>>151986219
>>151986274
i kinda appreciate the slow start in retrospect, allows us to get a feel for everything before we get to the halfway point where we start flipping it on its head.

>>151985758
RID2015 i think is underrated overall as a whole, flawed but fun. it was also unafraid to be toyetic as hell unlike some other shows, i heard it actually sold better than Prime and a lot of what came after it. I also just like that its one of the few Transformers shows to have more than 65 episodes capping off in the 70s range, its a fun show to pop on an episode and lose yourself into it, kinda like G1. Plus it has more oc's created for it than any other Transformers series post G1 thanks to the Con of the week approach. It'd be cool if another Transformers show had a character of the week line and that they actually make a toy of said character.

>>151986219
It's better subbed.

RID2015 was infantilized shit and a insult of a sequel to prime
>>
>>151987222
an ironic opinion, considering how much of a baby you're being

I quite like this aspect, it gives the whole thing this very chill serene feeling. I don't even mind all the panning still frames since the painted backgrounds are all really beautiful. besides the animation and script errors, one of my main criticisms so far would be that Rad and Alexis both have bouts of unexplained omniscience at the beginning so that they can deliver exposition. maybe >>151987201 is right and it's a translation thing.
the sound design is also really excellent, it's nice that reverb-voices are back and I love that the minicons and full-size bots each have different transformation sounds.
>>
>>151987222
Oh the irony, considering the actual baby show is less infantilized.
>>
>>151983380
Rescue Bots it's a waifu fountain.
>>
While I'm not a huge fan or the genre as a whole (pretty much just Thunderbirds) I'm always glad to see that rescue cartoons are still around, even if they're mostly just pre-K stuff like this or Paw Patrol.
I actually picked up a pretty nice toy of Heatwave that I found on clearance not too long ago, and while I've never watched the show I thought it looked pretty good.

>>151982117
because a show for 2-4 year olds isn't going to have as much appeal as a show for 8-12 year olds, even in this autistic as hell fandom. I'd say most Transformers fans are around that age mentally, and this is coming from a diehard fan/plastic consoomer. Q and A panels and customizing classes have turned me away from other TF fans to some degree because of the pedantry, overanalysis, politicization, and sheer obsession these people are capable of.

Not really
>RiD15 wasn't a very good sequel series
>Cyberverse had a pretty bad start of just being The Bumblebee & Windblade Show; apparently it got better as it went on, but even then that took a while
>The Netflix shows are just Prime Wars again, but they look nicer? I guess?
>Earthspark kinda speaks for itself
>And now Hasbro and Takara just gave up and are doing short-form series on Youtube (Cyberworld and Wild King, respectively)
Our only hope now is the Skybound series, but even then, we're all crossing our fingers that they won't learn all the wrong lessons from what made Invincible so popular
>>
>>151986219
>>151987889
one downplayed aspect about Armada is that it was meant to take place in the then-future of 2010, and the city was meant to be slightly futuristic with the kids parents all working for the scientific/tech facilities in town, and their vehicles being slightly futuristic. This wasn't really emphasized outside of visuals but you can see it in some other material around Armada, like the comics or kid's books
>>
>>151982117
Idk
>>
>>151992873
Eh, I think a Skybound adaptation would work better in the X-Men '97 style than Invincible's but I will take whatever we get I guess
>>
>>151987889
The dub uses unfinished animation because Cartoon Network demanded it ASAP, so it ran in the U.S. months before it aired in Japan.
>>
>>151987889
funnily enough, the sound director for Armada was Yoshikazu Iwanami, the same guy behind the Japanese dub of Beast Wars and numerous other Transformers shows, yes the gag dub guy did Armada/Micron Legend's sound design.

most anime fans would know his work for anime like Jojo's Bizarre Adventures, Konosuba, Sword Art Online and countless others.
