I purposefully kept it ambiguous as a sort of “future proofing” thing considering this is actually a huge hole in worldbuilding that as far as I know, still remains unanswered.In the next chapter, there’s essentially a border security check point, but its main existence is for a fitting gag considering it’s operated by Greed.I left possibilities open regarding that there isn’t even a magical barrier present and biggest reason sinners don’t cross is that the residents of the other rings REALLY don’t want sinners coming into their turf (save for the beginning of the fic where Bee invited sinners to party for once, but I wrote this before knowing she hates humans, and thus is a valid plot hole from what’s actually canon.) That’s why I went for a sort of “human trafficking” approach as the one exception to be currently happening in Hell because sinners aren’t even running amok. They’re being killed and turned into drugs in Greed after the source got cut off in Pride, and Striker even comments on how hellborn likely wouldn’t mind a sort of “population control” that they can enact on their own, and get high off of.

The main tension of the story is drawing to a close, and after this next chapter or two, the fic will 100% diverge in its plausibility of being parallel to the canon HB timeline.
