On which the gang is reminded of Alex Hirsch's leaked show.
>>152003383who names their kid Larvin?
>>152003479me
>>152003487but why?
>>152003503I mean look at him
>>152003383The beef was still on until it got cancelled and got to do The Book of Bill
>>152003383I want to complain about it looking like gravity falls but I guess thats just how Hirsch draws. And maybe it's just GF nostalgia but I DO like it.
>>152003540It's sad really. Netflix cancelling this mid-production might be the thing that gets Alex Hirsch to reverse what he's always said and actually go through with a GF animated sequel special/series
>>152003796The irony is that Disney's The Doomies has a similar theme of "paranormal mystery near a lighthouse community" and got greenlit on the same year as Hirsch's project went to development hell
>>152004068>The Doomies You mean the show that's never coming out?
>>152003540Wendy and Gideon
>>152003383>Gravity Falls but seashore themed and swearingI'm glad it never saw the light of day. Come up with a different premise you hack.
>>152003383why did so much from this get leaked but not the same for toil & trouble?
>>152005707Cuz there was none. The show simply wasn't produced. There's no "ah they said yes but then them assholes tricked me and said no!". They simply said no right away.
>>152005784alex hirsch's project only got one episode boarded, toil & trouble was already into pre production with 10 or more episodes, it objectively was being worked on longer. I can only hope an animatic or something leaks from it one day like the test animation for alex's show was
>>152003383im glad to not have to see what alex would've done with a more modern female lead. wendy was fun by virtue of being a more passively included character and the show dying right as 2016 started. i already dont like the femc in this. it's like what wendy would've became if the show ran a couple more seasons.
>>152003383>On which the gang isStop speaking like an insufferable faggot.
>>152005866They had a full crew, though. I get the sense UAHP's production was mainly held back by the whole mixed-media approach that needed extensive trial-and-error to figure out. It's admirable that Hirsch wanted his next cartoon to be more stylistically ambitious, but he still fails to understand that when delivering a commercial product to a major company, you HAVE to meet deadlines. McCracken, Ito, JRG, and Mega Dong all did, so he's alone in this.
>>152003383No more cartoons that look like this, please.
>>152007271>JRG who?
>>152007271The whole mixed media approach sounded like a budget nightmare anyways, the fact that Netflix wasted 300M in that Electric State film but still said "no" to this.
Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like they give animation showrunners less and less shows these days.Gone are the days when like 40% or Nickelodeons lineup were Butch Hartman projects.
>>152003479Middle class white women are officially naming their kids worse than ghetto names.
>>152008058Networks and streamers are in this era of "IP driven stuff only" so it's not surprising why 2010s creators barely do second shows
>>152008016God, as someone who admires the book please do not bring that thing up.
>>152003796I really hope he doesn't do anything else with GF. It had a perfect run and wrapped up nicely.
>>152006299Erm, that wasn't SPOKEN, buddy, that was typed. I bet you feel real stupid now...
>>152008116I think they want to avoid giving individual creators too much bargaining chip too.
>>152003383I think we were robbed.
>>152008220if it’s any solace I don’t think anybody even remembers the movie anymore
I don't think we were robbed, I like the girl character and want to fuck her but that's it. What exactly was this going to be "Gravity Falls but rated R? The mystery teens can now say fuck?" Why? For what purpose? Did we really lose something good here or did Netflix realize it wasn't losing much and nipped it?
>>152008220I wanted to see a film adaptation of "The Terrible Two" (not the shitty horror movie) because the books were optioned. Given the current trend of defiling books when adapting them, I'm glad the movie never came to happen.
Could’ve been neat. I like the setting.
>>152003383what the cal arts?
>>152008988>>152008220Ironically it's being a frontrunner for this year's Razzies behind War Of The Worlds
>>152008447I think he's fine working with Disney Publishing since they have less restrictions than DTVA. Hell the Moana books had Maui saying "damn" and they have What If? book series with Disney characters showcasing that Rapunzel has moon powers that cause death.
>>152004068Looks ugly as sin
Is his contract with Netflix rumors to be ending this year? He has been with Netflix since 2018 and only credit he had was being an exclusive producer for Inside Job. Is he going to be free from Netflix anytime soon?
