Can someone post the drawing of moore calling Rorschach a fascist?
>>152012532>"How DARE you contradict Alan Moore! KIMOTA!!"
>>152012532After all the comics I've read, Moore is one of the few good ones.
>>152012532Dan Mora, you guys sold him to me like the next Jim Lee and hes just yet another ``anime-style`` modern artists struggling to make his characters look different from each other
>>152012532pic unrelated>>152014044jim lee sucks
>>152012532>>152013055Nah
Everyone.Except the people I like.
>>152012532it'll never not be funny that this fat retard made a character literally based of the Rorschach test, and then proceeded to lash out at anyone who sees something different than he sees in it.>what do you mean you see a butterfly, are you fucking retarded? that's clearly a picture of my parents fighting!
>>152012532as a hypothethical, is there any artist who exists who isnt overrated or a hack?because it feels like you post literally anyone, and a contrarian will come out of the woodwork just to say it
>>152016039Yeah, that's not what happened.
>>152012532HickmanEnnisSnyderBendis (Yes people somehow still act like he's hot shit or deserved helming Marvel's big decisions for years.)TaylorEwingSimone>>152014044He's not even anime style. He's still very rooted in western art. But the bar is so low he gets work because he meets deadlines & his art isn't the absolute worse thing to look at. That's saying a lot in the modern comic industry. That said, I find his art REALLY flat. And his toku "inspired" designs suck.
>>152012532I don't think he's overrated however his childish edgelord tendencies had a detrimental effect on comic books as a medium that even rotted its way into media outside of books.
>>152016943It's less his edginess & more his stuffy pretentiousness that ruined comic books by having writers forever try to be the next Moore. Or Morrison. But at least Morrison for all his faults has more good books in his catalog.
>>152016964Yeah. I don't think someone being pretentious is a bad thing necessarily as long as they have the talent to back it up, and I do think Moore is a good writer. But you're right in that a lot of copycats tried to copy his pompous style but it always comes off as amateurish. If you're going to take your silly funnybooks seriously, you better have the skillz to back it up is what I'm saying.
>>152017009Exactly.
>>152012532>overrated hackthat's not bendis, OP
>>152012532He's literally the greatest author in the history of the English language.>>152012561Here you go.
>>152016943>>152016964Completely not his fault.
>>152017163Being a pretentious contrarian is absolutely Moore's own fault. Refusing to understand why people like Rorschach is also his fault.
>>152013055Grant Morrison deserves all kinds of shit for that insane Wonder Woman Earth One run. I get the idea of emphasizing the BDSM but holy shit what a misunderstanding of the entire culture.
>>152017423Also making it an interracial fetish thing.
>>152017194What do you mean by pretentious and contrarian? He also knows why people like Rorschach, he doesn't like that people want to BE Rorschach.
>>152017552Pretentious speaks for itself. Moore's writing is all about "muh humanity" stuff which is fine on paper to have SOMETHING to say but it is undoubtedly pretentious nonetheless how elevated he treats his own works. Whereas he's a contrarian in general as a person. He pretends to worship a pagan snake goddess & knows real magic just because. He's still a crotchety old man just finding ways to spite others.
>>152017578>Pretentious speaks for itself. That's quite a pretentious statement.
>>152017578Why are you acting like Alan Moore is your dad that you have a grudge against for not loving you? It’s really weird.
>>152012532I'm surprised Tom King is still allowed in the industry after the BatCat run.
>>152017604Now that's really reaching. Alan Moore's not going to accept you as his son for defending him against mild criticism over his writing style.
>>152017629Tom King seems so universally hated though that I can't really say he's overrated. A hack yes but a hated hack for good reason.
>>152017636No, he's right. You sound personally upset. Did he hex your goats to lay funny?
>>152017645He wrote that terrible League of Extraordinary Gentlemen comic & I took that personally.
>>152017651That was some of his finest work. Prospero's speech at the end of the Black Dossier is one of the best things he's ever written.
>>152017578>Pretentious speaks for itself. It does not. Too many people misuse the word, as you are doing now. Having something to say is not pretentious in itself. All he does is to try to write as compelling as possible with whatever subject he's interested in at a given moment, and sometimes he does cashgrabs. As far as contrarianism, I don't see that either. The snake and magic nonsense is fun for him. Most of the stuff he rags on either is for socio-political reasons, or shit that just stinks. In either case, things he feels strongly about, not just gainsays to seem special. He's just a smelly eccentric that speaks his mind.
>>152017666It's shit, Satan. Legitimately the movie is somehow a way better experience for the idea. Not edgy for the sake of it.
>>152017678He's writing capeshit. There's no reason but to be pretentious to turn the Charlton Comics characters into some edgy commentary on nuclear war, Vietnam, & objectivism. Literally just agreeing he's being a contrarian. He can feel strongly about the state of comic books & what gets popular. The pagan magic nonsense is just being different for the sake of it. A contrarian.
>>152017679The movie is so much worse.
>>152017703>He's writing capeshit. Why limit yourself to shit? Why not make some quick kino?>There's no reason but to be pretentious to turn the Charlton Comics characters into some edgy commentary on nuclear war, Vietnam, & objectivism. It's called having a little fun. Reading and writing this kind of thing is fun and intriguing, seeing how it all plays out.He got an idea and ran with it as far as he could with Gibbons. >The pagan magic nonsense is just being different for the sake of it.For his personal enjoyment. That's not contrarian.
>>152017423His X Men run sorta sucked too
>>152013055Why's he dressed like Okarun?
>>152017644>Tom King seems so universally hated thoughYou'd be surprised at how many redditors genuinely believe he's the greatest talent to ever grace a funny book.
