Which two do you prefer, top or bottom? The older I get the more I feel like Quickstrike and Inferno were absolutely superior, just way more original as TF characters

>inferno
MY QUEEN MEGATRON
>>
I just find it interesting that Terrorsaur and Scorponok were in the middle of going through a Transmetal transformation giving them a potential excuse to come back
But regardless, Quickstrike and Inferno simply have more personality
Terrorsaur being not-Starscream was fun in the first season but he could never actually be Starscream so he wasn't really all that missed
>>
>>152015120
Bottom two are just gimmicks, but they at least had gimmicks. Terrorsaur was just Starscream but way less treacherous, so what's even the point? Meanwhile, the writers never figured out what they wanted to do with Scorponok.
>>
>>152015120
I know it's you, faggot.
>>
>>152015198
Quickstrike is interesting in being a Maximal protoform who just wanted to be bad, and Inferno is interesting in that he's like Tigatron where his beast mode heavily informs his personality, but unlike Tigatron he's not boring and does things sometimes
>>
>>152015189
Frankly I remember Terrosaur and Scorponok more distinctly maybe because they're simply first season but I enjoyed they way they had their own agendas and undermined Megs. Inferno's shtick was being insane and for the life of me I can remember anything that made Quickstrike particularly unique other than some rivalry with the manta ray guy?
>>
>>152015244
Wait I mixed up Scorponox and Tarantulas
>>
Speaking of Beast Wars, is there any information behind the creation of the PSX/PC video game? The game didn't feature the show's VAs, music or environments. Things Mainframe owned. This makes me wonder if there was a legal issue involved.

>>152015120
Bottom. I find Scorponok monodimensional, but so is Inferno. Yet I love Inferno. Inferno also jobbed in his introductory episode, but somehow I never minded that either. Terrorsaur was a softer Starscream. He wasn't as clever, he wasn't as dumb, he wasn't as dynamic, he wasn't as flamboyant. He was alright but not amazing. Quickstrike was a bad cowboy who transformed into two dangerous creatures of the desert. He was a fuzor and a transmetal and that made him visually striking.
>>
>>152015189
The other issue was Tarantulas and even Blackarachina were just the more interesting traitors by the end of Season 1 and Terrorsaur had kind of run his course with his coup attempts that it was getting pathetic and probably wouldn't be believable for another season. Terrorsaur's biggest problem is he's a complete fucking moron, and you can even see by the end of Season 1 it looks like the writers were done having him lead coup attempts and started putting him in an idiot trio with Waspinator and Inferno because of how dumb he was. He and Scorponok kind of were the same kind of stupid, just on the complete opposite ends (One extremely loyal. the other extremely treacherous). As other anons have said, Inferno and Quickstrike were literally just them but better gimmicks, so even if they had stuck around I imagine they would've turned out similar to those two just with less interesting personality flair. Also, the only reason they gave the two of them and out to come back is you got to remember that this was a show to sell toys, so if Hasbro ever demanded they bring them back because their toys were selling like hotcakes even though they were gone, then they probably would've brought either of them back. Hell, we kind of have to thank the technical limitations/Hasbro demands for the two of them and Tigatron/Airazor to be written off because it convinced them to start writing in deaths to their scripts, which is how we got some of those iconic Beast Wars Episodes due to said limitations.

Quickstrike was the meanest, that was pretty much his thing. Terrorsaur and Tarantulas were cruel in their respective selfishness and mad science, Inferno was cruel in his role as a warrior, but Quickstrike was just a nasty boy who loves to be bad, didn't have any higher agenda or goal other than relishing in being a scoundrel
>>
>>152015425
Beast Wars was really damn good at making the characters a threat then a complete goober, and back to being a threat again.
>>
>>152015678
BW had a great balance of self awareness and satire and darkness and melodrama.
>>
>>152015120
Terrorsaur was a kino design. Yeah he's just a Starscream archetype, but he was neat and as a 6 year old I didn't care that he was just Starscream cause G1 ended before I was born.
I also like that between Lazorbeak and that AoE Strafe redeco you could make up a beast era Seeker team

Inferno immediately took over Scorponok's niche, but I think I like Scorponok's design a little more.
Quickstrike was ok but I hated that he felt ineffective overall. Not that Terrorsaur or Scorponok were much more, but they at least had a standout thing on their own. Quickstrike was the henchman's henchman.

It was made by Hasbro during their brief 90's attempt at being a game developer. While they did own the Mainframe show, the cost of the show was probably much more than they were willing to spend for a game.
Since their game wing was defunct by the end of the show, another company had to import the Transmetals games and they ponied up for the Canadian VAs, mostly(missing a few due to scheduling/budget)

It's ironic Starscream possessed Waspinator instead
>>
>>152015120
It's a bit of a tossup because narrative wise it is absolutely more important that Quickstrike exists while the whole 'Traitor' thing Terrorsaur had was if anything overfull on the megatron side. We did not need discount Starscream when we had two better Starscreams already, what could he possibly offer to the story they didn't fill in? Meanwhile Quickstrike answered the question of "Is it JUST the programming, or is it possible some of them were just assholes"? And year, turns out even if you don't brainwash them, some of the maximal protoforms were just assholes. He 100 percent chose that life and that's super important to the Blackarachnia storyline that was progressing with Silverbolt, ironically both sides of that Fuszor ended up rounding out her character arc.

But Scorpinok and Inferno fulfilled the same role and did mostly the same thing, Inferno was just funnier. Did we NEED one over the other? No, either one fits the mold just fine.

>>152016659
It's apparently because Doug Parker, the voice of Starscream in that episode, also voiced Terrorsaur, and there was barely any difference between the two voices so they used Waspinator instead to make it more obvious for the kids at home.
>>
>>152015120
The bottom two are better, no question

But I do think it's was a shame to kill the top two off. I know that it was due to a limitation in the technology at the time and they had to keep the cast small, but a series of 7 on 7 skirmishes is not a real war

>the cost of the show was probably much more than they were willing to spend for a game.
That's an understatement, Beast Wars was far and away the most expensive animated show of all time when it first aired, by a pretty substantial margin. Not only that, it would manage to hold onto the title for almost a decade until Father of the Pride took the crown. Ironically both of their budgets feel piddly next to Arcane nowadays, but for the time this was the ultimate hail mary to save the Transformers brand when it was almost dead.

For me it's Antagony. Would have liked to see a female pred stay evil to beat up Blackarachnia

Didn't Starscream's spark take over one of the bots?
I forget who

Don't think I've heard of this one

It was a convention repaint figure or something

It's funny how every decade or so Transformers is on death's door and then something shows up to revitalize it. First it was Beast Wars, then it was Bayformers. I wonder what it will be this time.

Vehicle modes plus Beast War's robot proportion. Is it possible?

Not without being ugly

Honestly I'd pick Terrorsaur and Inferno.
I thought both scorpions sucked for different reasons. The first was boring as fuck and the second was annoying as fuck.

Bottom two.
Terrorsaur was cool but BW Scorponok was just kind of 'the dumb one', but was in a bad spot where he was too stupid to be engaging but not stupid enough to be funny (like Waspintor).
Quickstrike and Inferno were both cool AND funny.
>>
>>152018605
I fucking love car Robots aesthetic myself
>>
Terrorsaur being Starscream clone feels overstated
He should've have a small character arc where he becomes fiercely loyal since he realizes he'd have a more secure place as Megatron's loyal soldier than an upstart. His disloyalty only really amounted to two moments- the power surge episode and trying to suggest to Rhinox they team up to overthrow Megatron.
The Preds were lacking for flyers by season 2, relying on joke character Waspinator and Inferno's clumsy flying method. Would've been cool to have Terrorsaur as a transmetal as a more capable flyer alongside Megatron who could pose a real threat.
