For anyone wondering, Shadowdragon showed up in a few of the Super-titles in one of those multi-book story arcs they loved to do back in the Triangle Era. However, he never got his own title so like Doomsday, DC decided to drum up interest in the guy.
Shadowdragon would show up in an issue of Showcase '96 to fight Lady Shiva, but if there was one thing the 90s didn't need, it was yet another guy in a super-suit. He's only shown up again in those big hardcover encyclopedias from Dorling Kindersley, presumably to show how hard-working the researchers are for including such deep cuts.
Speaking of characters people don't remember... Sovereign Seven!
This was a creator-owned comic, which was unusual at the time... until you realise that one of the creators was Chris Claremont, still smarting from his undignified exit from Marvel.
Sovereign Seven lasted until 1998, where it was revealed in the final that the team didn't exist, and the adventures they'd had were just an in-universe indie comic published in the DCU by some supporting characters. Claremont went back to Marvel to work on Fantastic Four for a few years before he had another undignified exit from the company.
And now, back to characters you've actually heard of.
That's all for today - I'll finish up the 1995 annuals tomorrow.
