I know the common sentiment is that the final ATHF season sucked but it really was the writing and not the animation. Despite the crudeness of the original being more appealing, I thought it was actually kinda cool seeing the show with a bit more visual fidelity, even if it’s not really something that worked.The real problem was the writing, I remember being incredibly disappointed with Plantasm and thinking the season that followed was more of the same. Carl in particular had a lot of lines where I thought “he wouldn’t fucking say that” internally.
