No one else in the movie, including the people in Corona, do. She's just a blonde girl, and if Cass is of similar age then she was a baby/toddler/small child when it happened and has no frame of reference. It's just some event that happened in the past. Or maybe she has suspicions but sits on them because she can't be sure (and also can't risk going to the royals on a possibility while still in hot water for losing the crown and letting the thieves escape).

The frame job that Gothel does at the climax of the film relies on the fact that Max can't vouch for Eugene's innoence because he can't speak. It's not impossible to pull off the same setup with Cass in the picture, but you need to spend extra time establishing why no one would listen to her when Eugene gets captured. Then there's the showdown with Gothel herself which would necessarily have to be reworked somehow to give Cass something to do. Unless we want to just write her out of the climax before we even reach the tower with her like holding off the palace guards with the Snuggly Duckling patrons or something

Gothel's modified plan goes off and he appears to have actually just been playing her and Rapunzel the whole time, Cass' earlier view of him being a scum thief seems validated and she feels betrayed that she "fell for the ruse". Then she could be the one to confront the brothers, who let it slip that Eugene was framed so she recruits the Duckling patrons frees him to go after Raps while she goes to retrieve the crown. She doesn't really need to be in the tower finale part, though I think you could also probably reasonably rewrite that scene to include her and end up with a full circle moment of like her and Eugene sharing a look and her throwing him her sword to cut the hair instead of using the glass.
>>152044344Like I said it's not wholly impossible to make Cass' hypothetical inclusion work, it's just gonna take a bit more legwork than the bare miminum effort these live-action remakes usually recieve. That's even assuming the producers/directors would even think to include a character like Cass whom this remake's target audience wouldn't be familar with. It'd be like the Aladdin remake finding a way to write Mozenrath into the script, I just don't see it happening unfortunately.

It'd be a neat bit of fanservice for us die-hards, but introducing Cass into the movie's timeline this explicitly also means introducing a lot of heavy story baggage from the TV show, they'd almost certainly have to retcon Cass being Gothel's estranged daughter for instance. It wouldn't even be a good avenue for introducing new fans to the character/the TV series, since a huge part of Cass' character is the fact that she was passed up for a royal guard position
