Is there even any callbacks or bits of continuity in this show? The episodes I've seen feel like a completely episodic show with absolutely zero continuity period. It's like how SpongeBob didn't have any continuity or callbacks prior to recently where they started relying heavily on nostalgia bait

So fucking what?

There are plenty of callbacks in the background later on. It's most evident in the third season as well as Static Cling.

I would like to know, do any of the 90s Nicktoons have minor continuity or callbacks? I know they were episodic because networks tended to air episodes out of order and also because not everyone would watch every single time it was on, but did any have minor continuity or callbacks? Did any of the really early 2000s Nicktoons like As Told By Ginger and Invader Zim have small tiny bits of continuity and callbacks?

Dr. Hutchinson changes jobs and they reference the previous job with a silly joke.

The recycling musical episode is literally filled with supporting, minor, and one-off characters from previous episodes in the background.

Do any of the Cartoon Cartoons have minor bits of continuity or callbacks? Dexter's Laboratory and Ed Edd n Eddy and Courage seem to completely lack continuity. Same with Johnny Bravo. Powerpuff Girls has some continuity and Kids Next Door has a lot of continuity, but it feels like the other Cartoon Cartoons didn't even do subtle continuity bits

The only bit of continuity in Dexter's is Mandark moves to town and then he shows up here and there.

Filiburt gets married and has kids.

Dexter had some minor continuity, like Mandark's second appearance being a direct follow up to the first. Also his hippie parents become recurring characters after in the later seasons.
>>
>>152040568
>Dexter's Laboratory
Mandark's first defeat is referenced in his second appearance, and the episode where Dexter's family gets taken over by brain worm aliens calls back to the season one's dodgeball episode when Dexter brings it up as he considers using the same robot he used in that episode.
>and Ed Edd n Eddy
The second episode the Urban Rangers appear in has Eddy claim he thinks they're lame, to which Double D counters that at one point he thought their uniforms were cool, referencing the earlier episode where the Eds try to join the Urban Rangers.
>and Courage
Multiple villains appear several times, such as Katz, The Chicken from Outer Space (which gets a recap of previous episodes each time), and LeQuack. In addition, the Ball of Revenge episode is basically one giant callback to various episodes in the series.

That's just how broadcast tv shows were, you needed something you could put in a time slow that could stand alone if it needed to and if you can 2 part episodes you could run a special.
TV wasn't always about binge watching and then shitposting about it online it was something you could turn on and if you were interested you would watch TV and if not it would be there in the background, maybe you would glance at it and watch a cool scene, or it would remind you of the passage of time.
>"Oh, Family guy is on better turn hen house lights off."
Sometimes you had nothing better to do and just found something to watch by surfing channels and come across a half aired episode or a show you forgot, It was still watchable.

FPBP (Comedies in general are better off not having continuity unless to tell a joke)

>Is there even any callbacks or bits of continuity in this show?
Yes, in Short Story:
>RRBM: Remember, you saved Heffer by removing that bone from his throat.
>Rocko: Yeah, anyone would have done that.
>RRBM: And that time you gave your only foul ball to that kid?
>Rocko: Hey, are you following me?
[…]
>RRBM: You took Pinky, your appendix, for a roller coaster ride as one of his final wishes.

Seasons 2-3 disregarded almost everything established by Van Partible; they didn’t even mention Aron City by name.

As Told by Ginger was almost a serialized show. The characters would bring up or be affected by the events of past episodes pretty often, even in the first season.
