Why are there so few good superhero comics?
>>152061679>anything with kraven in it>good
>>152061679>>152061723Both wrong
>>152061723Pic unrelated of course
>>152061679The genre's format under the big two is not designed for "good writing". It's designed to sell as many comics as possible in the short term.
>>152061749Sorry for my image
>>152061679Why is he naked and covered in semen?
>>152061679I dunno. Why is there so few good anime? Manga? Movies? TV shows? Novels? Plays? Gladiator fights? I don’t know
>>152061801Anon…is there anything you want to tell us..?
>>15206181780/20 ruleAlso>Gladiator fights? Those were always pretty good..notice the western Roman empire fell the minute they banned those.
>>152061817>anime? Manga? Movies? TV shows? Novels? There's tons of good stuff for each of these.
>>152061817There are a lot of good manga. There are an obscene amount of good movies. There are even more good novels.
>>152061679There are many. You don't read the runs, limited series, one shots, arcs /co/ always recommends. This thread is bait, unless you're a newbie who only knows about new comics, so in that case you would be right This is now a recs thread
>>152061896Most of the recs here and that will be posted are not good comics. When you get into characters, important stuff and the utilization of characters take precedent over the good stuff. You get people saying things like>This run had great Clea moments and her relationship with Strange blah blah blahwhich does not make it a good comic. It just plays into the character mythos in a big way. From a writing standpoint, it's the same boilerplate pablum as your average comic. Comics don't have to be these challenging intellectual exercises, but you shouldn't accept just any old shit either.
>>152062042This is just Alan Moore fishing for (you)s
>>152061679>few good superhero comicsName them.
>>152061679Shitty bait thread
>>152062131I bet it was to draw out all the supposed comic fans that are always on /co/ that never respond to comic threads or make their own. So there are enough people here to make a difference as far as number of threads on the catalog, but they won't do shit. I don't know why this many posters refuse to do anything but bitch and whine.I think that's what the lazy Moore quote thread is about too. And the east v west threads. That and getting (You)s.
>>152062042>just any old shit either. You should have started your post with this. I would have stopped reading there
>>152061679They were meant to be disposable. Never meant to be good.
>>152061817OPetty shittershattered
>>152062092Sure it is.>>152062193What do you think that means?

>>152062093He won't.
>>152061679I think Daredevil has been pretty consistently good starting after Kevin Smith's gay run in like 1998/1999
>>152065411Daredevil hasn't been good since Nocenti.
>>152061679There are MANY good superhero comics, actually!
>>152061679Go fuck a fish, Alan Moore
>>152067651Name 20 good superhero comics.
>>152068176He won't.
>>152069028stop
>>152061679For a comic to be good, you need a consistent and skilled writer/artist team, little to no baggage, little to no editorial interference, little to no filler, and good presentation. When have comics with fill-in artists, shit colors, a writer with little regard for the material he's working with, asinine editors forcing a title into a desired direction, rushed inks, events, gay little sales gimmicks like variant covers, and early cancellation, each of these things chip away at its potential to be good.Take a comic like China Mieville's Dial H. It could have been a good comic, but there are too many factors that bring it down (part of a horseshit relaunch, inconsistent art, rushed ending, etc.).This all comes down to bad business practices. The greatest threat to and enemy of American comics is the American comics industry.
>>152069677Ahem, incorrect.
>>152069677not reading allat buddy op's bait is at least short and to the point
>>152069918>>152069830Why are you mad? He has a good point, although I would argue that the writing and pacing of a comic are the most important things. It could have the ugliest art, but if those are good then it can still be worth reading. His post is interesting enough that I will bump this biased thread just because I hope that future posts will address this point of view, more interesting and fleshed out than OP's shallow statement>>152069677>The greatest threat to and enemy of American comics is the American comics industry.I think that Marvel and DC should realize that both of them are considered a joke event by normalfags. And obviously they aren't generating a good enough profit. So at this point they should give up, throw all the tactics and practices they have developed in the last decades to the trash. The only comic people really care about right now is Absolute Batman, but not too much and it's mostly a big meme. Their most acclaimed comics are usually old ones and people actually bought them in the past, and I guess that they're aware of this. So they should just do what they did before, because after all what have they got to lose? Money, fans? lmao. At the very least they could try to increase the respect normalfags and basement dwellers have for American superhero comics
>>152071032>It could have the ugliest artNo, the art needs to be some kind of good.
>>152069918>if I disagree with it it's bait
>few bitersI hope this means you guys are learning and aren't just being cowards.
