Peter Parker/Spider-Man is literally just a soap opera for little boys and manchildren. There's nothing ever genuinely novel or interesting in a Spider-Man book. It's an endless parade of love triangles and hype moments, which change their execution depending on the decade. But beyond that the book's swallow. It's the quintessential entry-level superhero soap. DC's answer is Superman. Which is why these characters attract fans of the same kind. Essentially they work based on the character interactions, but since capes can never progress, they just run around the same circles. Other books shake up the status quo or move forward, even a bit, but these two never can. Hell, even Superman got a kid. Spider-Man is just about some retard starring in a sitcom with the occasional "mature" episode and then a few issues where he goes "all out" so that the maladjusted fans can jerk off over the powerlevel feats, before the book goes back to being about said retard angsting over his geriatric aunt or whatever new thing he's torturing himself over. You're literally reading a soap with tights and nothing more.
