Alright boys. I have scientifically deduced the very first episode that marked the gradual decline in Spongebob. Was it a terrible episode? Not really. Were there good episodes made after? Yes. But it's the first one that felt "off", and it was nothing but a consistent downwards trajectory after. The Camping Episode was the B episode paired with Krabby Land, which further proves my point.
Desu the last 10 or so episodes of season 3 feel relatively weaker because the staff was largely focused on writing the movie during that time, they even admitted as much themselves. None of them are terrible, it's just that season 3 has a bunch of fucking S-tier episodes before that like Wet Painters and Chocolate with Nuts. What's weird is that in season 4, the writing staff seems like they decided to use those weaker episodes as a template for where to take the series. Fear of a Krabby Patty feels like it has one foot in those weaker season 3 episodes and one foot in season 4's total blandness.
By the time S3 started i realized the show was getting too loud and stupid

>>152087117I guess this did feel like a Season 4 episode in the art of Season 3.
Season 3 in general set the tone for the Tibbit era, people just give it a pass because Hillenburg still worked on the show and it was still funny funny. But it didn't have the charm that the show's first season had
>>152087117I feel like Krabby Land has only aged better over the years
