>Cow and Chicken had a lot of gross-out humor, had innuendos, and had a devil character who walked around on his butt

>In Ed, Edd n Eddy, the main characters were con artists, and thus the show glorified scamming

>Courage was scary

>KND portrayed adults as evil and taught kids to disrespect adults

>Billy & Mandy featured the Grim Reaper, had lots of dark humor, and its female lead was a sociopath

>Flapjack was creepy and unsettling, and Captain K'nuckles was a terrible role model

>Regular Show glorified slackerdom, and had innuendos

How did CN's shows not cause controversy? Shows like Ren & Stimpy and Invader Zim caused controversy, but not CN's shows.

How did CN's shows knot cause controversy?

In terms of ratings, CN was always 3rd place compared to Nick and Disney Channel. It rose to first place a few times, but that was in the 2010's.
>>
>>152088656
They did cause controversy but you were too young to see it or too busy at college.

this... this is the best you could come up with?
anyway
people weren't faggots back then.

You forgot the times they made a show about a womanizer, a show with some dark historical references and a show where the main antagonist was straight up just Hitler
>>
>>152089316
What shows were the dark historical references and Hitler ones?

>knot
?

>Courage was scary
Really? Come on man. Here, let me help you.
>Courage had an episode about lesbians and unironic domestic abuse

>and thus the show glorified scamming
The Eds were widely-despised among the kids and their scams often backfired. Eddy is a borderline villain protagonist.

nta but
>dark historical references
I THINK that was Time Squad
>Hitler
The main antagonist in Robot Jones had a Hitler stache

>In Ed, Edd n Eddy, the main characters were con artists, and thus the show glorified scamming
The Eds were hated by everyone in their neighborhood and got their asses kicked at the end of every episode. What the fuck are you talking about?

There really has been some weird mental de-evolution since 2015 where the new young adults of today have become soccer moms on steroids. Seething about everything in media that could be inappropriate of offensive or interpreted as, seething about media of the past and an all around new era of pearl clutching on giga-steroids that puts previous eras to shame.
>>

Anon here, it was Time Squad

Some of these had controversy internally. Cow and Chicken had to censor some gags, banned an episode and The Devil was renamed Red Guy. Maxwell Atoms was also not allowed to use Krampus or Devil-like character on his show because of the reaction to Red Guy and Him from Powerpuff Girls.

theres something really funny about being able to hang out with all kinds of monsters, the undead, and the fucking grim reaper while constantly going to the underworld, but the devil himself was a big no-no
>>
>>152088656
Cow and Chicken had a banned episode and the Devil character was a villain you were not supposed to agree with.

The Eds were routinely beaten and put in worse positions as a result of their scams.

Stop being a pussy

The reality of KND is so fantastical that you couldn't possibly take it seriously. This is the same cartoon that theorizes that aging is some kind of disease that changed the world from a kid run utopia into the place you see today.

Billy and Mandy's humor partially derives from taking horrific creatures making fun of them. Aside from maybe a few of the early episodes, the stories and characters are way too silly to be perceived as scary. The lone exception is that crazy ass rabbit from the wishing skull episode, you know the one.

Nobody cared enough about Flapjack to bitch about it. Which is a shame as it's a good cartoon.

Regular Show was rated PG and was allowed to do slightly edgier shit compared to its contemporaries.

>In Ed, Edd n Eddy, the main characters were con artists, and thus the show glorified scamming
It didn't portray what they were doing as right though, in fact Double D and Ed have multiple moments where they're conflicted about doing a scam. The Ed's also end up getting their asses kicked by the kids or will of God shit at the end of every episode they pull a scam in too. They're anti-heros at best and honestly portrayed more as lovable villains, you only really root for them because life throws them so much shit

It's almost like to some people "the Devil" isn't just some D&D monster or mythological creature but the avatar of all evil and that by having him there you are symbolically inserting evil there as well.
Not saying they were justified, just saying they don't see it as just another random monster.
>>
>>152089839
I hated flapjack because it just felt like something you were something to watch while stoned

S&P’s job changed from responsibly preventing lawsuits to ending all slightly uncomfortable phone calls so the new generation bosses wouldn’t feel responsible for anything, which is impossible, creating infinite censorship creep. We used to know that the parents who were mental enough to call and write in were not representative of general audiences. Now fifty thousand of the most miserable people on earth can google your job and DM you directly about it, your rivals can fund fake suburban mom mailer groups, and the guys at the golf course associate your company with whatever went viral about it.

Before 2013 Instead of writing tweets people would write angry letters, and nobody would read them.
