You can actually pinpoint the rise of "Jerkass Homer" to this episode here. S9E22, Trash of the Titans. Homer mistreats his family, ignores their warnings and complaints, and acts like a total douche to everyone around him to satiate his own personal ego, which is the kind of Homer behavior people criticized post Golden Age.
