I could have just as easily been hired as an avenger and been treated well by captain america and turned out optimistic as i would have been hired by magneto and turned into a terrorist.
I actually have a mutant-sona (or self insert or whatever you wanna call it) and part of her story is that she's strongly opposed to the movement that considers mutants a separate species from humanity, which is getting to be pretty popular with her peers
