The GOAT is 60 years old today. Can /co/ finally agree that the big push against it by Gen X geezers and Basedllennials was completely ridiculous?
>>152102905I blame Moore and Miller specifically
>>152102905It wasn't solely a generational push against it, it was mainly Boomer comic fans and Gen Xer comic fans who wanted comics taken seriously while Boomer/Gen Xer/Millennial casual fans liked the show till the Burton/Schumacher era and which point the shift happened and the Take Me Seriously comics fans had a stronger argument
>>152102905Its funny how fans for years blamed this show for making the mainstream audience think of batman as campy, even though the show does a solid job of capturing the spirit of silver age batman comics which were pretty damn goofy and whimsical.
>>152103491Not O'Neil amd Englehart?
>>152103908O'Neil wanted Batman to go back to his more golden age pulp / noir theme but I don't think he had the raging contempt for the West series others had
>>152102905Not taking anything away from Nolan and the rest but Adam West Batman = best Batman, always and forever. The Batman Who Laughs would have been x1000 better had it been WestBats who came in at the very end to finally take him down.
>>152102905Hey Joe.For some Gen X’ers like me this was my first introduction to Batman and Robin as a 3 year old.Batman’s main 4 villains would also not be popular today if it wasn’t for this show.
>is the reason Riddler has drip
>>152102905There was a push? I'm Gen Z and I like it!
I recommend you all look at the comic Batman '66. It does capture some, if not all, the camp feeling of the series. The story Batman '88 Meets Wonder Woman '77 is a nice book-end to the series. But I wholeheartedly recommend all the crossovers.
>>152102905Gen X and Millennials loved it. Boomers hated it cause they watched it with their parents who made fun of it the whole time.
>>152102905>WORD FILTEREDYou stupid fucking $ö¥tard, EVERYTIME!Also James Gunn is gonna rape Brave and the Bold.
>>152104053I fucking hate how Riddler for quite some years looks like a pile of duffle bags or a bum.
>>152104140This just gives off fetish vibes
>>152102905Am I the only one who actually got introduced to this show because of The Hub?
>>152104333Most of us watched it in reruns in the 1970s and 1980s on basic TV. Before 1989 Batman movie came out.
>>152104333Me too
>>152104121No, just Boomer Comic Fans. That's different from Boomers, who in general liked the show.
>>152103491I prefer their 80s Batman stuff. It's more fun.
I think the music/soundtrack was extremely good and is often overlooked when talking about the series. The soundtrack of the film is insane.
>>152103491Miller loved West, if anything DKR feels like that Batman thrown into a darker world, I wish he did the voice in the animated movie.
>>152102905how come Batman gets to be edgy, campy, and everything in between but Superman can only be 100% Boy Scout all the time or else Superman fans throw a fit?
>>152102905>the big push againstThis never existed.
>>152102905>>152104121It's funny lot of people think that adults all thought it was campy and funny while kids took it serious when actually lot of adults took it serious too with the humor going over their head and just accepting that's what the effects where at the time, your regular normie didn't always pick up on irony and shit like this show came out when my grandpa was a teenager and he never knew it wasn't meant to be taken seriously and watched it like he would a western or whatever but shows the show quality when you can watch it like that.
>>152105716Superman doesn't even nearly have the sheer amount of different depictions and versions that Batman does
>>152105730Hollywood too stupid to realize most regular people actually take superheroes seriously no matter how it looks, they only don't when it's meant to be straight forward comedy. Only like insecure comic book fans actually care about how ''serious'' it looks, Normies don't know the fucking difference Batman is Batman no matter how it looks.
>>152105730Your grandpa's an idiot.
>>152103491Moore said we should return to monke and enjoy Adam West Batman, the best Batman.
>>152107408You are
>>152102905>Can /co/ finally agreeApparently not
>>152107988Moore doesn’t know shit
>>152104140This was fucking terrible and I can't believe it got approved they couldn't have thrown a question mark or anything on here at all?
>>152102905Surely based Zoomers will recover what was lost, right fellow zoomers?
>>152102905>the big push against it by Gen X geezers and Basedllennials was completely ridiculous?I don’t even know wtf this is supposed to mean. What push?
>>152104159He reminds me of that time I found rubber boot old men porn. I had no idea rubber boots could go that long. Anyways yeah give me some fucking green suits and question marks. I always thought it would be cute if he had a Sphinx theme somehow. Maybe a sexy Sphinx themed underling girl (Catwomans sister who has shit taste in guys unlike Selina) or a literal pet cat named Sphinx. Sphinxes being known to give riddles. Or fuck just make his head a gigantic question mark. Who gives a shit its comics. Get weird with it. Anything but this.
>>152108048Zoomers have an intense need to hide behind 7 layers of irony in capeshit for fear of cringe BUT they like fun hammy shit like Shounen anime so maybe there is hope.
>>152108054He's under the delusion that Gen Xers and Millennials were the one trying to bury 1966 when the truth was that it's just Boomer/Gen X/Millennial Comic or Batman Fans who want to be taken seriously who were doing that, while non-comic, casual Bat-fan Boomer/Gen X/Millennials were the ones who liked it. And I know this cause I was paying attention to both comic forums and non-comic forums.
>>152105716Different character. Superman doesn't work when he's not the boy scout
>>152102905I like how in this series Batman is an officially sanctioned officer of the law that works with GCPD.
>>152102905i mean the show is pretty dang accurate to the comics at the timethey just didn't specify which elements to adapt
>>152108357>it's just Boomer/Gen X/Millennial Comic or Batman Fans who want to be taken seriously who were doing thatIt was just Boomer & Gen X, Millenials weren't old enough from 1986 to 1989 when anti-Batman '66 rhetoric was at it's strongest in-between the publication of The Dark Knight Returns and Batman '89. Anti-66 sentiment calmed down quite a bit by the 90's when "campy" Batman wasn't the default image of Batman in the cultural zeitgeist anymore and younger audiences who grew up on the Burton movies could take Batman '66 on its own terms.
>>152105783>>152108048>Another WORD FILTERDo retards not know how to avoid being $Ö¥pods?
>>152108713I don't know about all this generation terms and shit all I know is growing up in the 90s watching Batman 66 with my dad makes me so nostalgic I can see the inside of my entire parents house in my memories and I miss it fondly. I had older cousins who loved Batman 88 and I had The Animated Series and loved those stupid bat nipple movies. Good times.
>>152108713They should keep the whole "not showing the eyes through the mask" in the second movie, but that's one aspect Returns flunked.
