Why is there so much sex between heroes in Invincible? Aren’t there more important things to worry about than relationship drama?
>>
>>152104184
Pity the man who ties to wrap his mind around Robert Kirkman's mashed potato brain.
>>
>>152104184
I mean literally every mission could be your last. Enjoy life while you can.
>>
>>152104437
Zoomers don’t understand sex, somehow they’re less sexual than millennials.
>>
>>152104449
I do understand, I understand that it doesn't actually offer any kind of mental relief is a source of annoying bullshit
>>
>>152104184
they nearly die everyday?
may aswell fuck inbetween in missions to at least enjoy the time?
>>
>>152104184
That's like asking "Why is there so much sex between athletes during the Olympics?"

Kinda fucking obvious if you think about it for more than 5 seconds: tons of energetic alpha chads/stacys, all in tip-top physical condition, constantly working in close quarters with each other while wearing skin-tight outfits.
>>
>>152104184
>Aren’t there more important things to worry about than relationship drama?
Because apparently heroics and responsibility are fake and gay

Superheroes are hot
>>
>>152104184
Because Marvel Comics turned cape books into soap operas and four generations of writers grew up on them and think coworkers fucking each other is le relateable.
>>
>>152104184
Take a look at the amount of rampant sex that goes on between Olympic athletes during the Olympics
You have people in the absolute prime of their lives and fitness potential, and you expect for there NOT to be nonstop boot knocking? If SuperPowers were thrown into the mix, there would be Superpowered bastard kids running amok within a decade
>>
>>152104184
Because its a sort of realistic portrayal of what happens among high performance fit athletes whose hormones are through the roof. IRL Olympic Villages are allegedly nonstop orgies between events. If anything Invincible is more tame than it should be. Something like Teen Titans remaining TV-PG is complete fantasy.

Some random stripper being Captain Fate and doing a decent enough job while still getting bitches is pretty based.

Because he was actually pure of heart thus he could not be controlled.
>>
>>152105137
that is fucking cool

This is how Kirkman's mind works, it's his only solution to the comic not having any real drama or stakes without the Viltrumite threat or occasional villains.

It's like the annoying relationship aspect of all comics, it's there so you can feel like shit is happening until the next dragon ball z fight scene.

I guess you say it is realistic to real life in one way:
>people are always either fucking or trying to fuck
>which usually leads to drama and petty bullshit, no matter how dire things are
I just don't know why I'm expected to care about that shit if I don't even care about that shit irl.

>>152104804
>>152104826
All fair points too, it happens irl.
So does rape and slavery, doesn't mean you get points for adding it to your comic.
>>
>>152105219
>So does rape and slavery, doesn't mean you get points for adding it to your comic.
you do in my book
>>
>>152104184
Invincible is a dialed up parody of superheroes.

Avengers tower and the X-mansion are full of drama
>>
>>152105163
Yup, one of the few airheaded Chadsbyou gotta respect.
He knows what he is.

If he kept in his pants, he could have pulled Banshee and her whatever gf by working his charm.
>>
>>152104184
It’s really just Rex who they made the team dildo for some reason.
>>
>>152105230
I mean, if that's what you want in your stories that's fine, I can't give you grief over it.
It's your tastes, mine are probably bad to most people.

I just think Kirk implements drama poorly most of the time,
The story arc with Debby Grayson works because you feel and give a shit about her and Mark.

The rest of these guys, confuse or annoy me.
Cecil needs to hire new staff or start making (controlled) Mark clones, because those jobbers are a logistical and HR nightmare.
>>
>>152105219
True
Adding *LE ADULT SEX* in your comic in an inorganic fashion for the sake of their being sex in the comic, comes off as rather juvenile. Like the type of weirdo who's going off of porno clips as to how relationships go.
>>
>>152105365
>fanfic author subtly hints the psuedo-maternal relationship big titty thot from canon has is actually her grooming
>goes full mask off with him leaving as she blatantly does the same with his girlfriend after torturing her until she shattered like a glass cup
>paragraphs of the girlfriend's erratic thinking process as she tries to rationalize it as a good thing and avoid thinking about her torture
kind of relevant
i just thought very few people would ever write something like this
and as a consequence, it's one of the most unsettling things i've ever read in any story, well, ever
>>
>>152104184
Realistically I'd compare it to professional wrestling. It's a bunch of super attractive young people working closely to one another. There's gonna be sex going on, it's just how people work.
>>
>>152105460
>and as a consequence, it's one of the most unsettling things i've ever read in any story, well, ever
You must not experience much in fiction.
>>
>>152105543
What? You one of those fags that loves the indescribably eldritch being that is either a mass of tentacles or the literally nothing it would realistically be? Or is it just literary version of guro?

If it's the shit women unironically rub themselves to, I understand perfectly, though.
>>
>>152105460
I think I follow your reasoning.

I mean, Mark gets raped in the comic very clearly, after pages on pages of petty relationship junk and multiple genocides.

Its like the comic is trying to pull a 'The Boys' or 'Watchman' moment without having the context, or even the skill needed to pull it off.
Not that I think The Boy is well written, just that it's vibe is very obvious.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was shock value to pull reader back in to the story.

It's more confusing and annoying than anything else, what does that shit have to with the planet of evil kryptonians?
>>

First mistake, dating a redhead. Second mistake, dating a bisexual. Third mistake, dating a taller woman. If he was tapped in he could've seen this from 3 miles away.

I thought he only became a stripper after he stopped being Fate.

>>152106190
yes
but he's still a stripper on the inside

how was he supposed to know she was a superpowered alien?
>>
>>152106172

>>152105365
>Adding *LE ADULT Violence* in your comic in an inorganic fashion for the sake of their being violence in the comic, comes off as rather juvenile. Like the type of weirdo who's going off of rekt clips as to how relationships go.
Just highlighting how weird it is that you so many more people think gratuitous sex is an issue (or at least more of an issue to the point of bitching about it) while happily enjoying gratuitous violence. There's WAY more shots of faces mashed into pulp than cum in Invincible, but you're only complaining about cum, for... some reason. And yet, I sure hope that absolutely all of us will see way more cum than smashed faces.
>>
>>152105262
Yeah but in X-Men or Spider-Man or whichever book, has the cheating drama ever been worthwhile or interesting?
It's cheap. I don't mind sex when used but gee, I could give less of a fuck about the manufactured emotions that a love triangle or cheating sub-plot has ever been tied with and made into a plot in Marvel's books. It has always been shit.
Relationship drama is bullshit that a hero having to worry about saving lives should just ignore and cut themselves loose from the instant it drains any time away from them.
>>
>>152106279
For a few posts on 4chan? Yeah sure.

Enough to buy a copy of this comic it's entirity?
Nah, even reading the full thing online is a waste, there's better yucks to be had.

I'm glad you're having fun at least, somebody ought to.
>>
>>152104184
>Fit
>Stressful ''job''
>relationships
>>
Because the entire point is writing that shit as drama-focused and edgy and hackily as possible. it's just writing to try to desperately make an impression on the reader no matter what. Even if it makes no sense, even if it's just all about sex and violence and dumbass shit.

And it worked. Because people are retarded, so quality of prose doesn't mean half a shit. Just draw big cocks or whatever. Nothing matters.
>>
>>152105219
>rape and slavery
also featured in the comic, based kirkman is based, very realistic
>>
>>152104437
I could by this if OP's example wasn't MR. FUCKING IMMORTAL and Duplicate who never goes out on missions herself and just sends her clones.
>>
>>152106880
>realism = good
