This reads more like a man trying to justify to himself that he has a legacy more than touching on actual highlights of his life. Dilbert is iconic as comic strip, but that's it. It didn't change lives or somehow leave an impact on how people lived. He selling himself as a thinker or an intellectual when he was jusy monkey with a pencil and The Knack for witty office jokes.
>>
>>152113554
To be fair you could say that about any comic or cartoon creator, it's all there to entertain and maybe lead to some discussion every now and then. That's it.
>>
>>152113122
>>152113128
What a pretentious cunt
>>
>>152113554
Turns out all of our accomplishments are meaningless and all of our possessions are dust, it's true for everyone. Making Dilbert is as significant to reality and the cosmos as making the first atomic bomb.
>>
>>152113128
He seriously spends almost half of this just promoting his books? LMAO
>>
>>152113122
R.I.P he will be missed despite the whining of politics brain rotted tards

I wonder if he had a Genco moment like The Godfather where he begs for the healing touch of a certain Don on his deathbed

>>
>>152113122

I don’t like how he spent these last few months trying to justify himself to the internet. He had children and grandchildren. I feel like a true Christian would have unplugged from the net and spent these last days retelling stories to his family instead of going on Rumble with strangers.

Can you even justify that or is it going to be more ironic tumblr shitposting about how making a comic strip and a few books is literally fascist oppression?
>>

the thief had faith before dying tho
adams is saying he doesnt believe, but if he were to somehow wake up in heaven *then* he'd have faith
after death is too late
>>
>>152115338
This is very similar to the suggestion put forward by the Quirmian philosopher Ventre, who said, "Possibly the gods exist, and possibly they do not. So why not believe in them in any case? If it's all true you'll go to a lovely place when you die, and if it isn't then you've lost nothing, right?" When he died he woke up in a circle of gods holding nasty-looking sticks and one of them said, "We're going to show you what we think of Mr Clever Dick in these parts..."
>>
Unfortunately for him Shinto is the one true religion
>>
>>152113122
lmao, he died suffering a existential crisis and in fear. There couldn't be more adept way to die for him.

>>152115437
Nope
>>
>>152115474

>>
>>152115307
There's a difference between genuine belief and coerced "belief" done purely out of fear for what might await you when you die. Deathbed conversions are possible but it's a false security if you live your life thinking you can sin as much as you like and repeat a simple magical chant right at the end to save your immortal soul.
>>
>>152115338
>>152115510
>There's a difference between genuine belief and coerced "belief" done purely out of fear for what might await you when you die.
This is just mind reading. Do you think he couldn't harbor the capacity for it just because you read some shitposts about him online?
>>
>>152115510
>There's a difference between genuine belief and coerced "belief" done purely out of fear
No there isn't. Belief is belief.
>>
Reminder that prostate cancer is one of the most treatable forms of cancer. He didn't need to die right now but his conspiracy rotted brain caused him to suffer needlessly
>>

>>
>>152115521
>This is just mind reading
And? I never said you or me would be able to determine what is or what is not genuine belief, that's all determined by the ultimate judge in life.
>Do you think he couldn't harbor the capacity for it just because you read some shitposts about him online?
I wasn't questioning his sincerity in particular

>>152115580
>Belief is belief
Yes, and that belief is only valid if you actually believe in the tenants of it. There is a difference between *saying* Jesus Christ is your savior just because it might give you a potential get out of jail free card and genuinely believing that is the case.
>>
>>152115756
Multiple passages about God knowing your heart. Psalm 44:21, Jeremiah 17:10, Samuel 16:7

I'm not Christian but I've always been confused by the people who seem to think just saying the words mean anything at all.
>>
>>152115977
> Jesus Christ is your savior just because it might give you a potential get out of jail free card vs genuinely believing
There's no way to know what's in another persons heart or what they truly believe, is what anon was saying. Unless you're secretly god and know what's in peoples souls and the matching criteria. For all you know, almost 90% of "Believers" might just be frauds hoping to get into heaven.

Would you still be a believer/worshiper if there was no reward or afterlife promised to you?
>>
>>152113122
Converting last minute because you're suddenly afraid of going to Hell is not very kosher.
>>
>>152115756
Romans 10:9-11 If you confess with your mouth but don't believe in your heart then it is a pointless endeavor. Internal conviction and outward declaration are two parts of a single whole, you cannot neglect one or the other, they are inexorably linked.

That's not how it works. You either believe in the genie on a stick, or ya don't. The genie is all knowing you can't pull a scam on God
>>
>>152116694
Well true believers would say that only God can judge. But the main point is only really what's true in your heart really matters and the whole pascal's wager thing never made any sense.
>>
>>152116694
A good Christian is one that wants to save someone's immortal soul, not lead people down the path of false salvation.

No clue how it looked in US, but where I live vegetarians were fucking starved for decent ready meal options back then So if it were any good, being meatless would have probably been a good selling point and not an issue.
But also, like the other anon said, 90% of fake meat and ready vegetarian meals were utter shit back then, fortunately they improved tremendously in the last 10 years or so. Still not as tasty as actual meat or a decent homecooked vegetarian meal, but at least actually tasty in its own right
>>
>>152116877
Right, but Dilbertman is dead, monday morning quarterbacking his Pascal Wager is pointless. Or what, you gonna say you're only making a mockery of the man because you wanna save others? Yeah I'm sure you'd never go overboard with that kind of attitude
>>

I'm not mocking him personally but I am going to point out that no would should look at him as an example to follow in the slightest with that particular regard and to do so would do nothing but set yourself down an uncertain path.

At that point he’s making the wager that God does exist, but like a CEO on earth primarily wants lip service. Which is rational from a Dilbert-based worldview. It is the only option left if he feared experiencing something after death but didn’t have faith that his effort at being a good human would be more important than sky daddy club membership.

do CEO's like it when you don't believe they exist?
>>
>>152117849
This is a difficult question to answer as part of a CEO’s role is being preoccupied by the question of whether or not anyone believes they exist. Of course they don’t like it, but they don’t expect otherwise, so they may not know that.
>>
Scott Adams was a total pseud and wrong about everything, but I do wish to register my belief in this thread that it would be wrong for him to go to hell. He doesn't deserve eternal torture for his life.

>>152115338
Hazshit Hotel levels of Theology he has then.

>>152117849
>>152117873
If god cares so much about whether people believe he exists, why doesn't he just show up? He could go on TV and give the prime factors of big ass numbers given to him by live callers or something like that. Or he could make a website where you ask him a question that only you and He know the answer to. If he exists it's clear his revealed preference is to not give a shit whether people think he's real or fake.
>>
>>152117878
Personally I can't imagine a creator who would condemn a soul to eternal torture for messing up their 1 mortal life.

I share a lot of beliefs with Christians like grace and redemption but eternal damnation is ridiculous to me.

I remember reading through one of his "Philosophy" books that my dad got for Christmas because he liked Dilbert, and it was just cover-to-cover midwit rambling and sophistry, and this was back in the 90s. I think he was self-conscious about being the "Dilbert Guy" and wanted people to treat him as a serious thinker, but he never seemed to have any real principles or convictions. This really surfaced during covid when he backed the vaxx and that skeptics are only "accidently right". He was just a blabber.
