Talk and post about Robert Crumb
>>152119441I respect and appreciate that he's an open book, he let's all his neuroses, sexual predilections and biases all hang out there. People accuse him of shit ad hominem (racist, exist, misogynist etc), but he's just being public with what everyone else is thinking and bottles up.
Nobody draws a meaty ass and thick legs like him.
>>152119521He's based. Crown him King of /co/
I like his sketchbooks more than his comics. His more autobio and memoir comics are pretty good though. He became a better writer in the 80's during the Weirdo years.
>>152119689>He's based. Crown him King of /co/Unironically though
>>152119633Too bad about the faces
>>152119521You just don't get that with comic artists anymore. Everyone has a layer around themselves, only portraying the parts that are "socially acceptable quirky" - like Zach Weinersmith of SMBC only ever showing himself being a disappointment to his wife and bemoaning the little niggling annoyances of his comics, we know absolutely nothing about him as a person. In the age of the internet, I guess everyone is too afraid of baring themselves raw for fear of judgment or backlash. Yet Crumb did all of that, and look where he's at now, still kickin' and lusting over thick meaty women and making his interests VERY clear.
>>152119521>>152119752It's really fascinating how he's able to find so much artistic value out of a means of expression most of us would consider "low brow," while being in roughly the age bracket that would collectively look down at this sort of thing.
>>152119893Robert's overwhelming lust for big bubble butts and thick thighs overpowers any aversion to the concept of selfies. Something I've always noticed in Crumb's drawings is his pleasure in women flaunting their confidence in their sexuality, and girls taking selfies plays into that fantasy for him in a big way.
>>152119946Yeah, the image of inter-generational unity is kinda busted when you start to imagine his 82-year-old self ogling 20-somethings on Instagram...
>>152119798It's funny that he made himself seem worse in his comics than he actually is, just for self-deprecating humor. SJW's accused him of rape based on his 'My Trouble With Women' comic, but the girl that he features himself assaulting in the comic recently said in Dan Nadel's Crumb biography that it didn't happen.
>>152120027Didn’t Dragon Ball teach you that the older someone is the hornier he becomes?
>>152120027TBF he drew those almost 20 years ago, and they sent him the photos to be drawn. I don't think Crumb even has a modern phone.
>>152120041he's most likely a statutory rapist, but that's anyone who did "free love" in the 60s. if you were like 16 or 17 my understanding is that that was "old enough"he's creeped on teenagers before, i believe. or maybe i'm misunderstanding something. but when he talks about women being so unfathomable, i can see where he's coming from. there are women today, on the internet, right now who find him genuinely charming and even attractive. i would know.
You know you gotta respect the commitment
Why are the Complete Crumb books so expensive?
>>152120737They go in and out of print, and then re-sellers take advantage of them being OOP and jack the prices up to absurd levels. The Fritz the Cat collection just got reprinted by Fantgraphics so it shouldn't be too expensive directly from their store.https://www.fantagraphics.com/products/the-life-and-death-of-fritz-the-cat-paperback
>>152120659The man has a type and sticks to it, gotta respect it.
Please note that this page immediately follows a comic about a guy who lives inside a girl’s asshole

He's still killing the game, this just came out this past November.

>>152121116Happy to see the man still is kicking at this age. Anyone who knows where I can find his more recent stuff?
>>152119521>he's just being public with what everyone else is thinking and bottles up.I used to think this until I saw his documentary and I realized he and his whole family are incredibly fucked up
