Hell yeah, HtP thread. I posted my theory about who the ghoul is in a different thread, but now I can put it up for debate.Harry is the ghoul.>Harry? But he's such a good lad...Exactly. He is textbook beneath suspicion, both in universe and out - within the Arcanum, he is almost a background character, running errands and not causing trouble like Grimal or Brok or any of the others. Even when he was chained to the wall in episode 5 for not having an alibi, more attention was given to Git, Elise and eventually Matilda than Harry, no one in the room even thought to question him. And among HtP fans, those who still believe there is a ghoul in the first place are focused more on it being either Git (thanks to his close proximity to Polydora), Spit (thanks to his withdrawal like symptoms), or Grimal (due to the reasons explained in the episode) - no one is looking at Harry as a serious contender for ghoul. And that's why I think he's the perfect candidate.>Really? Just because it's contrarian?Well, more than that. The thing that tipped me off was actually comparing how Harry looked in the luau photos: in the 1994 photo, he is a long haired string bean of a man, but in 2004 he is straight up jacked to hell and back. Now, yes, this is obviously very possible for a normal human to accomplish, but it got me wondering about his reason for getting fit in the first place. He's obviously doing it intentionally (i.e. is not a result of hard labor for the Arcanum, since he mentions exercises multiple times), and given his personality it's not a stretch to say he wanted to be able to defend himself and others by getting strong and stand a fighting chance against the supernatural. Yet when Brok started shit at the pub, Harry outright refused to engage despite his strength. Why? It doesn't make sense since his friends were getting hurt, he should have at least WANTED to defend Marckus and Grimal.(1/3)
>>152135078>Yeah, so?So my theory posits that he didn't engage with Brok because he didn't want to be discovered, he didn't want his friends to know he was a ghoul (and possibly not wanting to actually hurt Brok either). With vampire-infused strength, Harry could have easily overtaken Brok, Git AND Spit all at once, but he chose not to because doing so would be incredibly suspicious - so he sat out and gave some lame excuse about how his muscles are only good for lifting (even though anyone who has ever lifted weights can tell you that is a bullshit answer). Once I had this in mind, I started looking at his behavior as well - throughout all of episodes 4 and 5, with the exception of going to the gym, Harry acts unbelievably paranoid, darting his eyes around and acting way more nervous than he did at the pub. One could write this off as being worried about getting attacked by a ghoul, but he acts this way even when he's surrounded by seasoned hunters that know their way in combat and have dealt with ghouls before. Even when he's giving his blood to Occam he's jumpy, and I think the reason is because he, in his own words in chapter 5, is "deathly afraid"...of being found out.>Okay, so what does that mean, that he's a traitor?Despite all of this, I don't think Harry is a traitor. At least, not fully - I think he approached the Camarilla with the intent of becoming a ghoul, and that he did offer to spy on the Arcanum, but I don't think he is a fucking lunatic freak about it like Chapman is. I think Harry is still a good lad, and I think he intentionally stretches what the Camarilla wants from him for the sake of his friends and colleagues (which is why he chides Marckus and Grimal for a potential masquerade breach in the pub - he didn't want the Camarilla to find out, since he knew they would put a hunt out for them). But those "errands" he runs for the Arcanum are undoubtedly getting reported to the Camarilla as well, in exchange for some weet vampire blood.(2/3)
>>152135087>But why would he do this?Simple - he lives in the world of darkness, and he knows the things that go bump in the night are scary as hell. He's heard stories of Arcanum members, men and women ten times stronger than him, felled by monsters, and now he's even seen a damn werewolf in person. He knows that left to his own devices, he's an easy target. But what can a human do without sacrificing their humanity? The most readily apparent answer is, of course, ghouldom. He still gets to remain human, and he gains power that he could never achieve otherwise. It gives him the edge to remain comfortable, and if the price he pays is just telling a bunch of vamps that he delivered a package with a screaming book in it, so much the better. Now sure, all of this could just be coincidence, it could just be that Harry is actually just a normal dude and that everything he says and does is exactly how it appears on the surface. But this is Hunter: The Parenting, and we know damn well through countless examples that nothing is ever as simple as it seems. And so, I believe Harry is in the perfect position to prove that once again, in the most dramatic way possible.>Bonus round: TTS parallelsAs we all know, Ogre Poppenang have made many references to TTS and 40k in the show, whether it is direct character transfer with the family or smaller character attributes like the Grimal/Shadowsun thing. If we assume Harry is in a similar situation, then what we would have is a man that is deeply afraid of the world he lives in and the things he comes in contact with but tries to remain outwardly strong for the sake of the people he cares about, trying to seem in control when in reality he's just lying to everyone about his own abilities. Put like that, I'd say that Harry Jacket takes some cues from none other than everyone's favorite HERO OF THE IMPERIUM, Ciaphas Cain.(3/3)
Could El Guapo vs. The Narco Vampires take place in World of Darkness?
>>152135189Absolutely but it'd be an ostracized splat outside of those who it actually represents.
Ten bucks says the Blue Man is a Changeling-warped Anton, the boy he was completely stripped away and turned into something far worse. That's why D was freaking out so much - he wasn't scared, he was traumatized by the unexpected reappearance of his son.

>>152135078>>152135087>>1521350941. I don’t think Ghouls can be affected by the Delirium and Harry was shitting his pants with Elyse when Matilda changes2. He is Ahriman, he is Marcus’ bro and his name sounds similar if you say it with an accent “Oi ‘Arry man”
>>152135189Yes, Guapo would be an Imbued Hunter while Mags is a Kindred, don’t know which clan. Maybe Gangrel given Don Draculon has a fucked up animalistic form.
>>152135325Eh, Anton is more likely to become a Redcap given it fits with the TTS parallels. That dude was probably the Milklings that trapped him and or a dude that works for him.
>>152137491Ghouls are only partially protected from the delirium. In game terms they make a frenzy check instead of the normal willpower threshold check a human does.
>>152137491>1. I don’t think Ghouls can be affected by the Delirium and Harry was shitting his pants with Elyse when Matilda changesI'm pretty sure this was only true in earlier editions, and now ghouls being able to resist Delirium is dependent on GM fiat (I really can't find a clear answer on this though). Also worth noting is that of everyone tested, Harry had the strongest reaction to Big D trying to trigger the Rötschreck - everyone else was annoyed or confused, but Harry was straight up frightened.>2. He is Ahriman, he is Marcus’ bro and his name sounds similar if you say it with an accent “Oi ‘Arry man”That's fair, the TTS bit was more of an afterthought than anything else.

>>152139559Precisely why he is a perfect candidate for ghouldom. One can only stay normie for so long in the world of the Hunter, and Harry has been aware of and working against the supernatural for years now.
>H.tP threadFuck yes. I've been thinking: does Markus still have the oculatus?

I still think Elise is the ghoul and gave Grimal the orders to do certain things, since Elise herself is too big to fit in the vents and Grimal is the one with the burn marks
>>152142023I think we can all agree that Grimal was the one who attacked Occam, she makes the most sense since she knows the vent system better than anyone. However, I'm skeptical about Elise being the ghoul - nothing about her behavior seems particularly suspicious to me, and I don't see why she wouldn't just come forward when Occam offered forgiveness at the start. I don't see a motive for voluntary ghouldom, and she's smart enough to at least ask for help if it was an involuntary matter.
>>152142252Whoever it is I imagine the situation going two ways. It’s either going to be they get outed and get taken away by the inquisition or killed, or they’ll help in saving Marcus and either sacrifice themselves or Kitten or someone will step up for them and say they deserve another chance.

I feel kinda out of my depth since the 'who da ghoul' arch. Before H:tP, I knew nothing about WoD. I knew a few the Masquerade the video game memes, and that was it. I didn't even know it was related to WoD. The cast tripled over the course of two episodes, there is a bunch of lime-y culture I don't understand, there is a whole subplot about Fey shit that I have nothing to connect to.Whenever I see these speculation threads, I don't know what to do. H:tP is asking me to dive into the deep end, but I have no real other connection that would encourage that. The yuks-per-second is kinda low in the series, and the tutorial video's even more so. I couldn't press myself to follow along with the TTRPG podcasts. I don't know anybody who actually plays WoD and going by the stereotypes mentioned in the primer video, I'd rather not start with that either.I want this to work for the creative team, but I don't know how I fit into that.
>>152142855Only unlike Horus, Horse is still a good boy
>>152142974I would recommend watching lore videos on the vampires first, then the garou. Those will give you the majority of the context of what people are up against in WoD.
>>152142974It doesn't help that despite all their expository audiologs, they go out of their way to utilize the most obscure shit they can think of
>>152142974My advice, play VtMB, find some PDFs of source books, watch some lore vids, and lurk here and take notes of certain terms and concepts and look them up on your own. WoD seems hard to get into on the surface but once you get a general idea it’s pretty simple. VtMB is a good place to start since in it you play a new vamp who knows nothing about supernatural shit either and you can slowly get details and whatnot over the course of the game. HtP is also pretty good in of itself since a lot of stuff which is learned is being learned with Kitten and the crew. Like how they don’t use the actual clan names due to D not wanting to risk them slipping up. I am ashamed to admit that them doing that made me unaware that it was set in WoD when the first episode came out. As for the bri ish culture I would say to just follow along as best you can and if you want to look into it you can. I know a little bit because I was really into cryptozoology as a kid and watched shit like Monster Quest religiously.
Only semi-related but has HTP inspired any of you guys to make your own WoD OCs? It got me to conceptualize a Hunter working with a Thin-blood and her Anarch coterie to try using their alchemy to develop a brew of of blood that keeps a vampire fed longer, as to prevent people from being preyed on as much.
>>152135078>>152135087>>152135094Getting stronger, not getting into bar brawls and being understandably nervous at the prospect of an undetected ghoul in the chapter house does not necessarily mean Harry is sucking down vamp vitae. Most of this theory is really circumstantial, where other suspects like Elise and Git have more plausible explanations for potentially being ghouls.
>>152143575I kill all of you because you're a filthy monster lover around filthy monsters

>>152144454D has fucked every supernatural creature that is able to be fucked. If he could fuck the Weaver, he would.
>>152144454>>152144470>Impregnation for all.>Kine, Kindred, Garou, Milklings, Elohim.
>>152135094>a man that is deeply afraidthis is Harry, and probably the strongest argument that he isn't a ghoulHarry's easily the most passive character in the show. The most aggressive he's gotten was convincing Markus to lift. He's timid enough that he wouldn't seek out ghoulification without looking up Arcanum resources on it, and would have gotten something close to D's take on it. He'd wimp out assuming he couldn't overpower the mind fuckery. Now if he got roughed up, forcefully ghouled, and ordered to not talk about it?
>>152144470given the the overlap D and his sons have with the emperor and the primarchs D kind of needs to be an omnisexual man whore in order to make "normal" version of his sons
