>>152137352Disney relying on streaming numbers as a factor for renewals of Disney Channel shows is one of the most egregious things they've done, especially considering Disney Channel shows typically don't come to Disney+ overseas (particularly egregious in Australia and New Zealand, where piracy is so rampant) until every episode of the season has aired in the USA.
I used to date a guy that absolutely hated this show and uncle grandpa it's like he was stuck in a preteen mindset that cartoons are for babies. Beverly Hillbillies was popular for a reason because normal people love a good fish out of water setting and good old fashioned jokes. Racists can't get angry or "uncomfortable" around Skittles-colored people like they would Thai or Latinx leads. The Houghtons just played it safe and figured out a production pipeline that gets new episodes out at a fast pace and with minimal exec notes. The fact parents like to put it on for their kids--whether said kids ask for it or not--is an added bonus that works in their favour
