Will Sgt. Rock ever be relevant again?
>>152147679Only if he gets an adaptation that goes viral.
war comics and western comics had their brief heyday but no one buys Big Two for anything but the same old capes anymore
>>152147679War will always be relevant it’s up to the writers to make a good story from it. Most writers have never been in war so they can’t draw from their experience, so that’s why every modern war story is the same hackney war is bad think of the refugees boohooing.
>>152148466Tom King was heavily involved in the Iraq War and he can't stop boohooing in his comics.
ABU GHRAIB
>>152147679Liked it better when it was Ernie Pike.
>>152147679I don’t want anything I like to be “relevant” ever again, it just means dipshit executives are going to throw it on the ever growing pile of dead franchises
Men of War was maybe the best book of the New 52. And no one seemed to care much. So, that sucks.
>>152147679Boomer and earlier war vet war hero comics hit a lot harder than gen x/gen y "and then we were in the sandbox for 30 years" stuff so probably not. The trees speak vietnamese is just more interesting than "and then when we thought the kurds were on our side, the leader of the KCR decided he was going to turn his town into a commune while the shiite liberation front began executing every sunni and kurd they could get their hands on, in order to 'fight isis' they said".
>>152147679Some things are better off in their own niche.
>>152147679maybe someday
>>152147679I'm a bit surprised DC hasn't introduced some modern day descendant of his with actual rock powers.
>>152147679Sgt. Rock vs. Predator.
>>152150063would be interesting.
>>152147679He died in conflict in WW2, in a pointless engagement before the cessation of hostility was communicated. His story was never about relevancy.
>>152148347Maybe not the Big Two, but WW2 will run forever n British comics like Commando. Nostalgia for the days when they were a 1st rate country.
>>152147679Not likely. Maybe with a modern update.
