Any alternative comic for me that is the antithesis of everything beneath the trees where nobody sees? I want a comic without deaths, without violence, without blood and without any gore or terror

Bear in ancient Greek, Arktos means "great defense". Arktos is where we get the word "arctic" from (land of the bear). The opposite of defense is "Kra" so "great offensive" is "Kratos". So Kratos is the opposite of Bears.

Why is it always bears that are killers.
They're already monstrous creature irl, why can't it be something like I dunno a reptile or another less used mammal.

I hope Patrick sees all the backslash he's getting from this change and does the sensible thing which is killing Sam once and for all.
>>
>>152155721
bears are pretty laid back in real life. especially black bears. if you give a bear the space and respect it deserves it will never fuck with you unless it's rabid or starving. they want to be left alone, they're largely solitary. like sharks. some animals are ancient forces of nature you just shouldn't ever fuck with.
>>
>>152155721
Bears are the right amount of cuddly and dangerous, strong enough to be scared of, cute enough to sell merch
>>

>>152155806
I think it's too late now. The best he can do is reveal the last couple of pages were Sam's dreams after the crash but it would steel feel pretty lame.
Also the setup is all there, nobody looked into the shop because the fox got shot, all the cops are dead, the body parts are in the car. Sam can yet again dodge all suspicion

Maybe I'm giving it too much credit, but this seems more like an "all-in" moment where she's decided she's been caught and there's no going back. Her coming out of this with her previous life in-tact would be so profoundly retarded that it'd make the shotgun trick look tame in comparison.

It reeks to me as a lack of planning (since it was originally a one-shot) combined with the desire to raise the bar and "outdo" volume one.

Patrick bited more than he could chew that is clear.
Personally I'd just ended this comic after the first issue or the prequel one if I wanted to milk sam a bit more, then go to work on an Actual Kid friendly books or do a different comic idea or whatever, now the only thing left is to see how Sam tears a new hole in Lex's ass.
>>
>>152156304
Or just the author misunderstanding what their audience liked the first time. Like Peter Watts in Echopraxia retreading the plot of the first book at like 10x the pacing, throwing in some tech concepts and kungfu action and being baffled why people said that previous book was way more engaging despite being slower.

You shouldn't be thinking reptile, you should be thinking frogs or toads.

Snakes sneak up and slither through the undergrass to kill their prey through what we would consider sinister means like constriction or venom. You know to be on your toes with a reptile like a snake and it's cliché, down to a literal biblical level.

But frogs? They're much worse.

Frogs don't hunt you. Frogs don't cause a ruckus and frogs are just as silent as snakes. They are round, retund and bulldog like. If there was a giant toad the size of a large dog or a small horse you could easily go up to and fuck with it safely. They will sometimes let insects crawl all over them or a leave an insect right in their face alone. But all it takes is for them to be a little hungry and a bug to wander up to them, and they will devour them whole in a blink of an eye without a trace.

If you want an animal serial killer archetype frogs are the perfect fit. Slow, not that physically intimadating, frumpy, keeps to themselves and loves lakes or fields. Seldom seen in town but will prowel about in the late evening when hr is not surrounded by vulnerable potential victims who have been around him for so long that they feel that they can trust him, but at anytime all it would take would be one, large snap around their head.
>Mr Toad killed Mr Mouse?
>Oh don't be so cruel Officer! Mrs Mouse passes by his house every sunset with her kids and they never had an issue!
>Even the Woodlice kids down the road cause a ruckus with his yard from time to time with their games and he doesnt bat an eye
>He wouldn't hurt a fly officer, quite literally!
>But if you are talking shifty, I never trusted that corn snake down the road...

It's always the same shit with anything about Serial Killers anyway, you read or seen one of these they're all the same regardless of how "good" they are called as.
>protag kills or is the one discovering who is killing
>the law is ran by retards or corrupted

Serial killers are a lot like gangsters, outlaws, mafiosos, et cetera.
There's a Hollywood-ification because watching a consistently lucky moron evade with mommy issues acting on an impulse over and over isn't exactly A-tier material.
Even the "killer mind" is very rarely that complex, "I hate x because mom/dad were x so now I impulsively kill x whenever I see it"
X typically being women or drunks.

It depends on there being a good jumping off point. If you have a good standalone story, even a dogshit sequel shouldn't ruin it. Otherwise you could never deem a single piece of media to be good because some asshole could always come along and make a bad enough sequel that ruins it. Alien and Jurassic Park didn't magically become bad movies just because they made a million terrible sequels, and Beneath the Trees doesn't retroactively become a bad serial killer story just because the sequel is bad.
>>
>>152156351
All he had to do was not time-skip into the future where being a Serial Killer was less practical and keep to the first comics era where we see Sam still doing her thing but with an occasional hiccup here and there
>>
>>152159652
It's still stupid.
>>
>>152159700
The problem is that later entries can change people's perception of the previous stories (or even retcon the actual facts) including the themes and characters, and if those new interpretations gain enough stake in the public conciousness, it becomes difficult to impossible to discuss the originals without people insisting on those interpretations. Eventually the original ones may even be lost to time, and something that was special to you will lose its meaning, or at least the shared one that allows you to connect with others. May or may not sour your own personal enjoyment, but reasonable to be a little upset about it.

Even Ed Kemper, someone that True Crime fanatics like to tout as being insanely smart had some intense mommy issues. Issues so intense it got the better of him, killing his mom and his moms friend which lead to him turning himself in. Had he not given into his impulses he'd have at least another decade of freedom before he got caught
Thank god the judges recognize that Ed's calm, polite and cordial demeanor is just an act. Ed definitely still wants to kill women, he'd kill the nearest woman if he could
>>
The weird thing is about the whole booby trap/lex thing is that Sam isn’t smart enough to be a Dexter serial killer, she’s not stupid but she only really gets by due to the town being simple.
Monica, Nigel and his mom shows that anyone who gets close enough to her finds out eventually because she leaves clues all over the place. She’s not a le ebin mastermind, she’s an above average amateur
