I don't get why The Hub died. It had so many original series, exclusive 3rd party shows, and imports that hadn't aired in the states prior or atleast not on a notable network prior when it launched and then it just died

Grim.

Littlest Pet Shop was more popular than Transformers Prime if it's episode count is any indication

>newcomer to the TV scene, no existing fans, no existing ad contracts, nothing
>is owned explicitly by a toy company, so all their competitors refused to air their ads on it, and it sucks to try to sell one (1) brand to kids, which led to commercials repeating a lot more than normal, like half the ad slots just being Gak
>only "big hits" were... Horse Show and Transformers, followed very distantly by things like LPS, Dan Vs, Aquabats and IDFK, Pound Puppies?
>TV as a whole was already winding down as more people got into Netflix, random-ass Youtube videos, and other streaming media
>the biggest of big hits of the channel, The Horse Show being almost exclusively watched by nerdy adults means despite the demand, most people just watched compressed-ass streamed copies of the show fifty times then nabbing a 4k rip later on... instead of actually buying a Hub Sub
>the Horsie Horse Show was already starting to decline a bit at the time the Hub became a thing too, as more Horse Fans moved into more fan-content buying fan merch and so on

Barely anyone had the channel. It was bundled with premium instead of basic cable packages, so you had to dish out more money to watch it, which was something most parents weren't willing to do when Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network were included with basic. And horsefuckers just pirated their show, so the main draw for the channel returned relatively few adbucks. It was a good channel, but it was doomed.

>TV as a whole was already winding down
Nah, in 2010, TV was still very active. Adventure Time and Regular Show premiered that year and instantly became very successful and Nick, Disney, and Cartoon Network all were getting millions of viewers until a few years later when ratings started to decline
>>
>>152158310
I don't even get why horsefuckers would pirate their show on YouTube in 3 parts when they could've just gotten The Hub instead. Piracy is immoral and has never done anything good for this world. It hurts people and companies
>>
>>152158264
I think you forgot one thing

The channel The Hub replaced was even less popular than Boomerang, Nicktoons Network, and Toon Disney/Disney XD, meaning that even those who were fortunate enough to have The Hub might not have even known they had the channel since they didn't pay attention to the channel that The Hub was prior
>>
>>152158326
Nah, I mean it's not like it is now where everyone's dropping their cable subs to spend 5x as much on sub services, but we were already at that kind of point where people were eating their lunches with Youtube, and anyone with an IQ above 110 was watching shit on cartoon sites online for free to avoid ads.
By 2010, I stopped even owning a TV at all, we had one in the house but it was primarily used for vidya and Netflix.

>buying a TV channel package (and likely a TV too) just for one (1) show
God damn.

You didn't have to pirate in three parts. There were a dozen Youtube channels that uploaded the episodes the day they aired, and if one got taken down, three more would replace it the same day, and that's not even mentioning Yayponies. The Hub priced themselves out, so people went with what was more convenient.

Ok, corpocuck, go back to your containment thread

Does anyone even remember what Twisted Whiskers and Cosmic Quantum Ray were about? I've been wanting to know what those shows were like since the names sound interesting
>>
>>152158069
Does anyone know why The Hub came into existence? I've never been able to know why Hasbro wanted to do a TV channel and I still don't know what made them decide to partner up with Discovery. What led to The Hub existing?

Twisted Whiskers show was sort of like Loony Tunes, in that it was a series of individual shorts built around a limited cast of characters.

IDK about Cosmic Quantum Ray, but it sounds like a sort of boy's version of Atomic Betty.

Both shows are CG and haven't aged well in terms of fidelity.

>What led to The Hub existing?

Pretty much the CEO at the time, Brian Goldner, wanted the toy company to branch out more into entertainment.

The series has been uploaded to youtube.

>>152159211
So why did he partner with Discovery? That's an odd combination. Why didn't he either have a new channel space that would be on basic cable packages or team up with Nick, Disney, or Cartoon Network and strike a deal with them? Discovery and Hasbro was a weird combination
>>
>>152158069
Does anyone know or remember what the other 3rd party exclusives/import exclusives/original series were about like Deltora Quest, Majors and Minors, Transformers Rescue Bots, Kaijudo, and Hubworld?

Anybody?
