at least I'm back under 300 nowadays

That's a BMI firmly in the obese category.

Did you just eat all day long?

I was drinking at least one 2 liter of soda a day

I was too, and I was fat but nowhere near 239.

phew, i'm safe from fatness

>muscle
I mean, probably none to speak of. If you're 6' and 240 while living like Homer does, you probably are gonna be a fat fuck. I think that weight is about right for what he looks like.
>>
>>152167234
I'm almost that weight and 5'5

Im 320lbs and 6'2 and im not fat like he is.

>2 liters of soda a day
good lord
Its possible I've had that much soda at once, ever. But I don't think so. And certainly not multiple days.
>>
what are some times you acted like The Whale /co/?

>be last weekend
>wake up for brekkie
>eat two bowls of peanut butter Crunch with one cinnamon pop tart (I left the other one)
>go to work, skip lunch
>for dinner I have two chicken sandwiches from Popeye's, one classic and one spicy, with some sweet tea and large fries
>planning to bake some cookies for dessert when I get a text from mommy
>'hi Anon, did you eat dinner yet?'
>lmao even
>tell her no
>go to parent's house and eat three big plates of carved ham with mashed potatoes and gravy
>drink six of their Diet Cokes (I wish they had regular)
>for dessert i have a punch bowl that I fill with Sherbert, only ate about half
>pass out on the couch in a food coma, don't wake up until around ten
>on the way home, I stop and pick up a chocolate milkshake at In-N-Out

I was 240 and comfortable with that for a long time. I managed to lose 80 pounds in 3 months simply because I had an obese coworker I hated at the time and wanted to really fuck with
Just hit the treadmill everyday, bros

it all comes down to homer's height and his natural build
sources seem to always agree he is 6 feet tall, but he sure as fuck doesn't look it. He looks like a short guy. I guess not a lot of characters tower over him, but they all feel like short guys too. It's tough to say.
if he IS six feet tall, then 239 is about 40 pounds overweight, which is significant but only really represents a slight gut or some water retention.
Homer's build is usually depicted as being pretty much coated with a slight amount of adipose tissue, plus a larger deposit at the stomach that goes beyond 'beer belly' level. He is drawn at least 260 if not 280 pounds.
but then it IS a cartoon. I mean look at Barney. he has like twice the mass of Homer. he's like stretched horizontally. so I think we have to take them at their word, and say Homer is merely a little tubby, like Bart.
>>152167250
keep in mind how small, wiry, and frail Grandpa is. Homer probably does have a naturally light build. I suppose he could be 60 pounds overweight...
>>
>>152168025
Do you have any mobility issues?

>>152167509
>with one cinnamon pop tart (I left the other one)

Anon I can forgive you being a fat fuck, but I can't forgive you being a wasteful fat fuck.
>>
>>152168034
No
>>
>>152167252
i was 260, at a time when my natural weight was still only 200 (hadn't broadened out yet in the bone area)
But a TON of it was muscle, and my mom's side of the family grows heavy, dense muscle. shit that makes you overheat outside of the arctic. I lagged hard in gym, until the weight-lifting unit, when suddenly carrying all this weight around (and backpack, and all the fucking stairs, and the pottery class) resulted in me leg-pressing over 400 pounds
errybody's different. but the lack of sleep, the stress, and being forbidden to eat between meals (but given lavish, rich meals) definitely caused it, and it all melted off one school ended.
>>
>>152167546
yeah i feel like the writers are kinda out of touch.
when we see caricatures of them, they all look like skinny guys who smoke heavily.
and one of them is Very Tall Man, right? so he throws that perception off too.
>>
>>152168032
He should be 280 with his gut and proportions. TV is abnormally thin, at the time even worse, 240 probably sounded “bad enough” to the writers.
>>
>>152168115
>TV is abnormally thin
you mean tv writers, right? who at the time were often on heavy stimulants
>>
>>152168115
This was in the early days of the internet, they couldn't really just look it up.
>>
>>152168128
I mean all of TV, onscreen, culture behind the screen, talk shows and magazines driving weight loss information before personal fitness blog/vlogs were easy to google. The writers would be soaking in that mentality and skewed reference points.
>>
>>152168032
If we're going by the BMI (which works well enough for guys who don't specifically work out to gain muscle), "healthy" for a 6' man ends at around 180. 240 puts Homer well into "obese" territory, but not morbidly obese (which would more so apply to guys like Barney or Comic Book Guy).

I mean, I know some skinny dudes around 6' (i.e., no muscle, just kind of skin and bone), and they're around 160-170. If they had ~80 pounds of fat just sort of dumped on them without any muscle mass whatsoever, I imagine they'd look more-or-less like Homer.
>>
>>152167234
I'm 360
>>
>>152168158
ehh i don't think that's so. hm. maybe. I mean I guess we are talking about the 70s-80s so.. yeah all that coke.. hmm.
>>152168184
you guys can keep moving the goalposts all you want, 200 goes with six feet. that's just where it goes. that's why it's easy to remember.

It's right here, and it matches up with the ~6' guys I know who don't work out much. All the 6' 200 lb guys I've met have done at least a decent amount of weightlifting.

I am 6" and weigh 350lbs. I admit, it's not great, but I don't look anything like obese Homar. I just have a gut and butt.
>>
>>152168327
Do you have big muscles as well?
>>
>>152168134
Hence “out of touch” >>152168068
They don’t know enough to write a number that would make a better joke, either realistic or funny, and never punched it up. We can assume they believed that was at least sufficiently heavy for a guy who looks like Homer, if not comically overweight, because the scale isn’t a joke about him weighing less than the cartoon design.
>>
>>152168234
I’m 5’11” and 150 lbs. And I don’t even look particularly skinny. I highly doubt that extra inch would add 50 pounds. If you’re 200, you’re either a fat fuck or a bodybuilder. Simple as
>>
>>152167250
No he's all jiggle
>>
>>152168327
>I just have a gut and butt.
Um excuse me sir why aren’t you on my dick right now?
>>
>>152168234
The camera adds ten pounds so people in entertainment have always had more of that skinny obsessed culture, it shows up in the writing in live action too. Not like something they would have focused on extremely, just what’s normal framing in the everyday that you’d hardly notice shaping your assumptions.
>>
>>152168332
No. I go to the gym when I can, but my weight lifting days are numbered. Age combined with past work injuries make lifting in certain ways painful. I am fairy strong. Been lifting heavy boxes lately.
>>
>>152168292
>180 would be normal for me
Last time I got down to 210 I looked like I just got out of a concentration camp. But that's what happens when you Kevin Smith it.
>>
>>152168347
I’m the same height and weight as you. I think I’m averagely skinny, but people constantly guess I’m ten years younger than I really am

>>152167509
>ordered an entire pepperoni + sausage pizza pie
>ate the entire thing without knowing while watching anime
>still was hungry after
Fucked up.
>>
>>152167234
>weigh like 250
>look a lot healthier than him
I guess it makes sense since I can't imagine he's even got a single ounce of muscle, but still, it's funny when the "haha funny obese man" weighs less than you and is way less healthy. Then again I don't drink beer much and my bones are way the fuck too dense.
>never broke a bone in my life
>haven't brushed my teeth in like 20 years
>no cavities
>still have all my teeth
>use mints or gum for fresh breath when needed

Also:
>apparently he's in his late 30s (though there's a sliding timescale), often 39
>I'm almost his age
>thanks to the sliding timescale, he's starting to be shown growing up with shit I grew up with, and he'll soon be growing up with things my youngest sibling did, and so on
Shows really shouldn't be allowed to live this long. I still don't get how the show's even alive, nobody I know watches it, even the most normalest of normal-normalfags I know mostly just watch Netflix or Youtube, plus whatever one (1) specific news channel they absorb like a sponge.
At this point I'm convinced Fox/Disney just has a bunch of bots watching it on loop somewhere.

>mommy
>brekkie
What is this, some copypasta from Tumblr?

Anyway, never watched The Whale, but I'll go off context clues:
>make Thanksgiving for a whole get-together with what's left of my family tree (almost everyone 50+ died the last couple years after taking like a gazillion jabs)
>ham, turkey, handmade cranberry sauce, stuffing, etc.
>everyone brings too much since they're still kinda in that "EVERYONE meets up for Thanksgiving" mode
>we all eat, but I don't really eat that much during the actual dinner because I'm too busy cooking
>still end up with a huge ham and most of a turkey, plus cookies and pies and shit in our fridge
>end up doing the "if I don't eat it, I'll have to throw it out" thing
>turkey, ham and stuffing gone in like 3 days
>put the leftover cranberry sauce on/in basically everything for a month
