Theres literally no chance that its not in production. Glitch isnt going to be able to milk TADC forever
>>152170383Aaron Long once again proved right
>>152170428They're going to move on to Gaslight District (a show made by someone who isn't a pain in the ass to work with and doesn't have an insane vindictive obsession with her former employer). Dana getting cucked again lmao. Do you think her next project will be her trying to "own" Glitch like she did Disney with Guinevere?
>>152170383>2 cuties
>>152170428TADC is their Spongebob/TTGO! they will milk that show with comics and figures lmao.
>>152170383Why are you both surprised, she has uploaded tons of BTS of the pilot behind her PaetronGoose and The Gaslight District guy don't do that
>>152170428MD season 2 it is.
>>152170471I feel like a lot of her obsession with Disney stems from her jealousy that Matt Braly got everything he wanted (a better show, more books, more recognition) while her gay show was ignored for being troon garbage, so she channels her seethe towards Amphibia to Disney as a whole. Her inferiority complex is frankly pathetic
>>152170618I'm never going to forgive her for doing my boy Luke dirty, she fucking blacklisted him from the industry by spreading lies tht he was harassing her (even though she was actually the one doing it, everyone took her side because woman)
>>152170554>MD still coping about their shitty endingLet it go bro
>>152170618Reminder that Matt Braly's still liked within Disney to a point of having talks with him on a potential Amphibia movie/special while Dana gets nothing
>>152170428>Glitch isnt going to be able to milk TADC foreverNo, but even season 7 zombie TADC will do better numbers than their other shows.
The CEO contacted her personally and told her to make whatever she wanted.
>>152170428The problem is maybe isn't worth it, like for now 16 million views is kinda ok for a show with a very big budget butsecond episodes usually have a very big drop in views from the pilot, so if the third episode goes below 10 million views, it isn't affordable.
The Gaslight District had a better pilot but I'm more interested in seeing where KoG goes.
>>152170730Shit can still potentially get by on merchandisr the same way high budget action shows were subsidized by toys for decades (before kids stopped playing with those)
>>152170785Thanks fir reminding me, I need to buy my waifu
>>152170751Frankie is literally the only thing KoG has going for it as far as things fans can latch on to, and even then it's mostly just coomers who like muscular tomboys. Pilots are meant to hook the viewer in and give them reason to care about your world, to create mystery and intrigue and present them with something they actually want to think about and theorize about. KoG didn't really do that, it's designed as a slow burn but for a pilot that needs to gain audience traction it doesn't burn hot enough.
I'll be honest I forgot about KOG until I saw this thread.
>>152170383>b-but Dykena Terrace is le savior of my troon animated slop industryCan you imagine these Owl House troonfreaks 24/7 shilling for this garbage only for it to amount to absolutely nothing at the end, not even a slight attention from anyone because the show is that shit and uninteresting? And just like The Owl House, both IPs quickly fell off into irrelevancy. It turns out Dykena is the main cause of the problem for her show's failure and that she's a talentless hack that destroys anything she touches.
>>152171066Yeah. I think KoG can go anywhere, so Im more interested to see where it goes, but Gaslight did a MUCH better job at showing us the world and what it's all about.
At least KoG can be glad it's not Homestuck. Now THAT landed like a wet fart.
>>152170383I kins of feel bad for Danna
>>152171318>Splindehorse>Toby Fox as one of the leadsThank god
>>152170383I think the 2D animation is holding back the greenlight. Glitch usually sticks to 3D animation for a reason. It is cheaper and faster to produce.
>>152171318At least there are people who actually care about Homestuck, unlike KoG, which has zero total fans.
>>152170383At lest Glitch understands that twitter likes is not an actual paying audience
>>152170383This is good news as far as I'm concerned. It was very unsubtle about its Disney "satire", and while modern Disney is nothing to admire this came off as the seethe of a burnt out Disney adult rather than someone who wants to make something independently beautiful or artistic. And it never established what it would be "about". There are two main human characters and what I remember about them is they are vaguely working in a garbage dump or mechanics situation, and then there is this robot who is relevant somehow. It's as if you made the first episode of Avatar the Last Airbender, but never established Sokka and Katara as likeable characters with the potential for growth and relevance, and never established Aang as important.
>>152171587Modern 2D animation has a digital pipeline, their production costs and times are roughly identical.
>>152171712Then why did corpos like Disney and DreamWorks abandon 2D animation?
>>152171729Several reasons. You've probably heard the story where Shrek was wildly successful but animated Dreamworks and Disney films bombed during the early 00's. That played a role. But another key reason is that Disney execs just like 3D films and think they look cleaner and more "futuristic". It's similar to how they push live action adaptations now (even when they're not live action, just CGI, like the new Lion King), it's all perception.>this 3D now, this made with computers, this the future>this made with real human actors now, this professional, this mature, we adult now
>>152170383The main girls were ugly.Who should I as a consumer choose? Disney girls or tumblr butch dykes that anti-Disney sluts make? Like get real. >"support indie animation!">99% of indie animation is less watchable that Netflix slop like Paradise PD or Big MouthAnd then they seethe. Just wait until AI becomes watchable (which it eventually will) then the real seethe will begin. They should be more concerned that their indie trash gets beat out by AI slop instead of being mad at slop watchers.
>>152171767To add: the ultimate irony is that 2D animation is actually a vital step in the production of most 3D animated films. They aren't finished, but they're used as animatics in order to guide 3D animators who have to do complicated stuff like rigging and prop physics and all that nonsense.
1. I don't buy for a second that they're not already in production for future episodes given that Dana has a massive fanbase and her audience is exactly the type of people that GLITCH is appealing to.2. If there are any delays, I doubt it has anything to do with internal politics or anything about Dana being hard to work with and is much more likely because GLITCH does not have a pipeline set up for 2D animation as effectively as they do CG. Willing to bet that is 90% of the reason for delays.
>>152170449Kek based
>>152171729>>152171767A few more reasons are flexibility and cost over time. CGI has a higher initial outlay cost, but costs go down as assets are built. Likewise, adjustments can be made more easily to a CGI scene, wheres with a 2D scene it may mean an entire sequence has to be redrawn
>>152170826I will never understand why Glitch let Dana make this hambeast abhorration the main protagonist when their main source of revenue is selling merch.Who the bloody hell wants to buy a butch lesbian plush doll??
>Knights of Gonorrhea >Knights of Diarrhea >Knights of Slopvere>Knights of Gurgledeeznuts
>>152171862I want Frankie to crush my head between her thighs
>>152171862>Who the bloody hell wants to buy a butch lesbian plush doll?A butch lesbian probably
>>152170383Crappy show that no one cares about aside, she is probably a real bitch to work with.
>>152170428Gaslight District is infinitely more marketable than a show that literally is made from spite & hard anti marketing.
>>152170449He got there ass
>>152170647I have no clue whose side of the story to believe. Luke is a nutcase, but Dana is a bitch, and she's a bitch of the sort who believes that her political beliefs protect her.
>>152171862>hambeastFrankie is strongfat and built like a Dwarf chick, that's a very different vibe.
>>152170383What did Bob Iger even win? He wanted to retire 5 years ago and the company forced him to come back
>>152171856Costs are about equal.>budget of Shrek>60 million>budget of Prince of Egypt>60 millionI never expected it to be literally equal, but there you go. "3D is cheaper" is mostly a meme. It probably has a cheaper production pipeline as you said, and I don't disagree with the fact once the models are made you can reuse them, but the money just gets spent on other things. It becomes less "we made this for less" and more "the opportunity costs shifted".
>>152170618while I know it's bait amphibia wasn't good at it's crumbling plot, S3/shit ending. Overall frog show is still a better watch

>>152172340Invader Zim hottopic aesthetics sell.
>>152170618So much this. Owl House was nothing more than a shameless ripoff of Little Witch Academia, Pokemon, Harry Potter, and Inuyasha, and many other anime, except Owlshit is missing tons of quality that makes these anime shows good to watch, and instead of being drawn in anime style, we got a sanitized corporate Grubhub soulless tranny slop where every character is suffering from bobblehead tumor disease. Owl House is dogshit that not even film critics care to even compliment the show to get free brownie points. Owl House is so terrible that Disney used the extra budget to give Amphibia more seasons and books.
>>152172437no you're just finger pointing right now
>>152172465I'm not, I'm genuinely curious. I don't know enough about whoever this is to finger point, that's why I asked.
>>152171318They were a decade too late
>>152170785The tariffs situation might have screwed them over. Animation in general only does well when the economy is doing well and even then only as long as they can avail themselves to cheap labor (both for animation production itself and for production of merchandise). If the economy isn't doing well people aren't going to spend money on 'merch' and tariffs mean that the profit margins on merchandise are slimmer to straight up non existent.
>>152170383Is the show actually good or is it just built on hype?
Quick run down on the Owl House and Amphibia fan base feud.I liked both shows.
>>152172535It's literally driven by one insane Filipino
>>152172512Hype?
>>152172340I agree with you. And it's a shame because the overall production design in Gaslight District is phenomenal but audiences don't care as much about things like environment design or color scripting or effects animation as they do about characters and the characters simply aren't attractive. I get what it's going for, it reminds me of stuff like Invader Zim and Psychonauts and 2000s era Tim Burtion but *all* that stuff leaned more towards "creepy-cute" while GD lacks in cuteness to soften the rough edges of it's art style. The characters also *aren't likable*. Why should I root for these guys? Even if they weren't likable though a lot would be forgiven if they were visually appealing.
>Owl housefag got permaban, and his posts got entirely deleted from this thread
>>152170383Having watched that pilot last night, I'd say it's a good start. Ambitious as hell for a youtube series but it's the sort of stuff the industry needs. Disney were fools to lose Terrace.
>>152172654>I delete my own postsy tho?

>>152171785Why do people keep pretending to be mad about ai to virtue signal and pretend its cartoonishly evil in an age of severe lack of quality entertainment in all mediums shortage and while a lot of people still want ai productions to have a human hand and baseline? Like following a storyboard and making an animation from that, not a text prompt to animation. Tumblr crowd was a mistake
OWL TARDS IN SHAMBLES
>>152172801I don't want them to fail I just want GD to fail so the team can move onto something better. I don't like the character designs or writing in GD but everything else is fine, there are good people on staff with skill and imagination and I want them to get another crack at something with a better premise and better characters.I think GD would be in a better position if they touched up Mel's design. I get the sense that Glitch is somewhat embarrassed about leaning into fanservice all while implicitly hoping the audience will find her attractive and the end result is an unsatisfying compromise. Either commit to making her sexy or lean towards making her cute, don't go for half measures.
>>152170383>Amphibia wins again
>>1521707302D animation is damn expensive. Even incredibly bad 2D will cost much more than damn good 3D, so there's a really high bar for breakeven here.
>>152172473Absolutely this. Most of the fanbase have moved on since then.
>>152172115D is actually cheaper than 2D animation, especially in the long run, but even in the early stages.Even in your example, it's clear that Shrek cost less to produce than Prince of Egypt (a three-year difference, adjusted for inflation), and we don't know what the money was spent on primarily during production, because music, voice actors, and advertising often account for the majority of expenses.
>>152170383There’s dolls and merch at Hot Topic, do you think they would make merch for just a pilot? C’mon.
>>152173048That's what I meant by "opportunity costs shifted".
>>152173115Yes, and this suggests that 3D shows are actually much cheaper than 2D ones, from advertising to production.Even in the case of KoG, Dana's name could have saved on advertising, but that would only have helped initially. Production will only become more expensive over time, and it's unclear whether Glitch can withstand such expenses. Disney makes money by selling licenses to produce toys and merchandise, and generally doesn't bear the same risks as Glitch, which must market its own products.
>>152170449>pitch my cartoon idea to the execGlitch comes to you, not the other way around.>so they might make a pilotIf they came to you, that means they want to make a pilot, so it's going to happen. Note: if you're good enough at the craft, nothing is preventing you from making the pilot yourself.>if we sell enough merchWhat's the alternative? Secluding yourself to a paid-for streaming service? After the Cartoon Hangover and Rooster Teeth fiascos? YouTube's monetization policies have been a cryptic mess for almost a decade, and pretty much no other user-uploaded-video service HAS monetization, except in the "paywalled by the uploader" sense or the "you got a fuck-you-money contract from the guy who owns the place" sense. You can do that first one on YouTube, of course (start YouTube Memberships, make some videos "Members only"), but no one wants to pay to watch animation on YouTube unless they already REALLY like the creator. And at that point, why not just make some merch? At least a nerdy art ho wearing your logo on a T-shirt gets the word out, and you're not ham-stringing your discoverability.
