Storyboards intended for the NostalgiaCon table read:
https://www.guymooreanimation.com/portfolio-collections/collection_0f809c/gknd-nostalgia-con
>For his first convention appearance at Nostalgia Con in Houston in 2025, Tom Warburton, creator of the television series Codename: Kids Next Door, decided to do a live table read with four of the original series' main voice actors, performing a new script for "Galactic Kids Next Door"-- his take on what might have happened to the kids of Sector V in the time following the end of the original series. As he did for the original GKND stealth social media campaign (discussed elsewhere on this site), he tapped me to create all the art for it, again in secret. There wasn't enough time to make a full animatic, but the idea was that I would capture certain key moments and visual gags, and that this media would be displayed on a big screen for the audience during the panel, either by itself as a backdrop, or with the voice actors narrating it, as appropriate.
>Unfortunately, the Nostalgia con turned out to not only lack a big screen, but any screen at all... so the panel performed the table read by themselves, and none of the art or animation was shown. That's show biz, I guess.

Numbuh 2's Hangar
>In the script, Numbuh 2 is overwhelmed trying to keep up repairs on the KND fleet in the face of continuous, ongoing waves of adult attacks-- so the drawing was a fun opportunity to revisit a lot of fan-favorite ships from the original series. And trash them.
>I won't give the exact list of which ones I used, since the fans will no doubt have fun finding them all for themselves.

Fluffy
>A visual gag, wherein the (newly) grumpy and depressive Numbuh Three threatens to shove "Fluffy" in Numbuh Four's ear and out the other side if he doesn't leave her alone, and Numbuh Four asks, "Who's Fluffy?"
>I never got the chance to do a full-color, full body version of #3 at any time during the project (it would've eaten up too much time in the later Battle Stations scene), but I did manage to sell Tom on the idea of swapping out her green shirt for a black one with a candy skull and striped Amy Brown sleeves. Thus the sleeves here.

Numbuh 5's Room
>In the wake of Numbuh One's departure to the GKND, the script depicted Numbuh Five as having become the beleaguered Sector V leader; her room, accordingly, was transformed from a chill-out lounge to a messy strategy hub full of diagrams and battle plans. The original location was only ever seen in a single episode of KND (T.H.E.-F.L.Y., which I happen to have boarded), but this new version is accurate to it.
>Yes, that's an Old School animation desk she's sitting at. And the battle diagram directly above it, partially illuminated by the spotlight, is actually the Battle of Gettysburg. :D

Sarcastic Hamsters
>The ever-popular hamsters, mocking Numbuh Four. The through-line of the script's story was Numbuh Four trying to figure out who stole his underwear, and blaming the other sector Z members each in turn-- but this is the reveal of the ACTUAL culprit!

door to Numbuh 1's Room
>The door to Numbuh One's now shuttered room.
>The script had the hamsters disappearing under a crack in the door, then Numbuh Four opening the door to follow them. (That's why there's a pay phone with a big button mounted to screen right-- that's the door switch.) But since we only had time to do a still image, we didn't have to worry about the logistics at the end of the day.

The Return
>The critical moment of the entire script, wherein Numbuh Four catches up with the hamsters, and makes a surprise discovery.
>That's my voice doing the scratch dialogue, not Ben Diskin's. Had everything gone according to plan, at the panel read, they would have played a silent version of this, with him reading the lines.

Battle Stations! (next level)
>The end of the table read as originally proposed, with the reunited Sector V assuming Battle Stations.
>I wanted to do something for this that both hearkened back to the opening titles of the original series, and also next leveled what was always a fan-favorite moment in every show. Thus the 1-2-3-4-5 sequential fall-in, and the anime freeze-frame on the leap. I was happy with how it came out.
>That's my voice doing the scratch dialogue, not Ben Diskin's. If everything had gone accordingly to plan, at the panel read, they would have played a silent version of this, with him reading the lines.
>Fun fact: there was MORE to the script, beyond this moment. A BUNCH more. But Tom wanted to end a high note, and was afraid it'd be too talky if the read went on for an extended period without any more visuals.
>You'll have to get HIM to tell you what else was SUPPOSED to happen...

You don't need to reboot AT. AT hasn't stopped.
>original run from 2010 - 2018
>Distant Lands from 2020 - 2021
>Fionna and Cake in 2023 and 2025
>a comic runs and graphic novels from 2012 - 2019 and restarting in 2025
>two more spinoff shows on the way
>movie was dropped in the late 2010s and picked back up in 2024
