Why was it forgotten so quickly?
maybe the streaming service reboots are caught in the grand swirl of media landscape shifting and audiences arn't as captured as they once were in the cable days.
because it fucking sucked
>>152179596Because the Comedy Central seasons were already weak and barely saved by a few great episodes so there was basically no chance of this being better. Futurama's a show so utterly rooted in the mindset of the late 90s to early 00s that it's basically impossible to write for it today now that we're so far removed from that mindset.
>>152179596It may be arguable when Futurama's golden age ended but there's no question that this is the start of its zombie eraThe voice actors are audibly showing their age, except for the recasts made for either brownie points or because voice actors are dead that sound completely offAnd unlike Simpsons you can add to that the general feeling that they've had a perfect finale already so why bother

>>152179596It's a series that takes place in the future. They could do ANYTHING, and what we got was "Bender finds truffles with a talking pig."
>>152179596Unironically, they should have aired more of the episodes on FXX (or normal FX, like Shōgun), for that synergy. Maybe the opposite, like, instead in the “next day on Hulu”, since they’re really pushing Hulu, make it maybe exclusive for a week on Hulu, then air it elsewhere too. But another thing is that, for streaming stuff, others are rarely any relevant ads (ironic) being played. Like, used to be, on normal TV, there’d be a commercial for “NEW episode of [show] airing [day or time that is soon]!” And, more than likely, you’re also already watching a show or movie you like. But with streaming, even with all the options, most of the ads are “Try this NEW product from [company] and those weird Jesus ads that trick you into thinking it’s something else” and “Here’s a weird AI generated stock/cryptocurrency ad for a company that was made last month and will close two months from now”Or if they do ever show a relevant ad, it’s like “Check out new show on Blapodis, the streaming service you don’t have, and we’re just telling you that the show’s being made, when will it appear on there? I dunno, a very vague date that you’ll forget about when you wake up tomorrow. WATCH IT ON BLAPODIS, or Kranglymalango if you’re in [place where it’s called something else and the lineup is different]!”
>>152179596because nobody who liked futurama wanted it to to keep going, we saw what happened to family guy and the simpsons
everyones ignoring the actual issueevery episode was clearly written and storyboarded during covid, it shouldn't have ever released with such outdated episodes.>BITCOIN!>STREAMING SERVICES EVERYWHERE!>VAX EPISODE!doesn't help that those three topics were in every single adult comedy that came out during the covid pandemic too.
>>152180144>Set in the year 3000>Episodes based on current events
>>152180245Simpsons did it
>>152180421That's a good insight into the follow-on effect of losing the couch potato cable audience. They are less aware of the other offerings from the same network.I had the bizarre experience the other day of catching a member of my household watching just normal-ass CBS on TV. As you may or may not already know, the CBS TV shows are the most normie-brain lineup of sitcoms and action dramas, it's like exactly the stereotype of a TV broadcast lineup. But what they do is they constantly advertise the other shows that are on different timeslots. So before long you are subconsciously thinking like a "CBS tribal" where you've seen enough goofy sitcom dorks in your commercials, that you start entertaining the possibility of caring. You wouldn't get that toehold in without the obnoxious ads, like streaming.
>>152180473Because in some year caused the big cultural reboot
>>152180473Futurama as always just contemporary topics "played-for-laughs" as they say. Y2K bug, garbage in new york, robot gangsters, that kind of stuff. Very "New York Brain" writing typical of a lot of shows in that era.
>>152179596Because it doesnt do anything new or adapt itself to the platform its on now. The Fox and Comedy Central runs were made to air on TV while Hulurama is only on hulu. Why bother?
revival just seemed creator driven rather than fan driven. show already ended well once and decently twice, people weren't clamoring for another round
>>152179784
>>152180003>they've had a perfect finale already so why bother Yep, that's one major reason Futurama's continued production pisses me off more than other long-running cartoons. We've had SEVERAL perfectly satisfying finales already. The new episodes actually do more harm to the show's image than any good imo
>>152179596>>152179784I think one of the episodes was making fun of NFTs like 4 years after NFTS died.
If you guys want more Futurama just read the comics. Its what I've been doing with Simpsons since the zombie show sucks.
>>152182036The one that ended a decade ago?
>>152182050Yes. There's nothing stopping you from just downloading a zip file or hitting up eBay.
>>152179596Did anyone even want this?
>>152181967there was an episode called "zapp gets cancelled" about a decade after cancel culture died. they did a covid episode too. trying to do topical episodes is fucking stupid on a show that takes place 1000 years in the future. even the original series had a joke about Dial Up internet and anyone younger that 20 will have no fucking clue what the joke is.
>>152179806Meanwhile was the best possible series finale they could have ever had. As much as I love Futurama, there was absolutely no reason to keep making more episodes after that.
>>152179596>Why was it forgottenI WISH we could forget it.
Why did they make Hermes a willing cuck?
I didn't watch any of the Hulu seasons because there was a beautiful ending to the series with Stench and Stenchability and Meanwhile
>>152183355>Stench and Stenchabilitythey don't bring back Zoid(((berg)))'s girlfriend or even mention her.
yah the show stinks now lol anyways theres better stuff that deserves more spotlight nowadays
