If this show was made today, it would be chock full of reddit irony and quips making fun of how stupid the premise is.How come there can't be more of these kinds of shows without generic, omnipresent irony?

aside from the issues related to the current cultures inability to sincerely connect with a story, power rangers was also a lot better when this came out. So people familiar with that were able to take the premise somewhat seriously. But the show got so bad it doesnt even take itself seriously anymore. I know its cancelled but im speaking of the last 4-5 seasons that just felt like self parody. Just my guess tho. Not like power rangers was ever literature but it had sellf serious storylines in the background that concluded in the finale arc generally. And this wasnt a thing anymore in the newer stuff.
