I’ve been reading comics since I was a kid, and as someone who loathes the MCU, it’s honestly sad how most of the comics now rely on synergy to be more like the films (or flat out adding shit from the Disney+ series like the MCU TVA because Marvel truly believes they’ve created a masterpiece,), it’s only gotten worse and I can’t help but fear it won’t get any better from here on out.

As a Ms. Marvel fan, the MCU fucking ruined her. Which is sad, because Imran Vellani is the perfect actress for her and clearly loves the character a lot.

Anon, it won't get any better.
The people in charge simply don't give a fuck and are under orders from Disney and that middle eastern bint who made the kamalla harris political propoganda character called "ms.marvel".

Just create fanfiction based on the versions of characters, disregard the comics unless you're a comic shop owner or a speculator and save yourself.

>Avoid show out of disinterest
>Eventually humor someone who said they liked it well enough, figuring it will be bland at worst
>Kamala is so bereft of her go-getter personality it's psychologically painful whenever she's on screen fumbling about the most straightforward motivations without someone else pushing or on
It was like watching a baby that didn't want to be delivered.

How'd they ruin her? I'm only familiar with the Ms. Marvel D+ miniseries

She's a generic oh gosh i'm such a loser type from every disney show type on earth.
Worse, they decided to go full superhero end of the world with her character before they established her as a likeable character or an actual cast of characters.
She's street level, school level, who should be happy she stopped a bank robbery and overcame her fear of being killed to help people and at most fight some D level villainess before she meets up with someone from SHIELD who gives her an Avengers card.

They also changed her powers.

In the comics, Kamala is a shapeshifter and stretchy hero. This was a very deliberate choice by G. Willow Wilson, both as a metaphor for the awkward changes of being a teenager, and because she noticed that most female superheroes tended to be energy-based. Pretty, glowy powers that didn't interfere with their looks. She wanted Kamala to be more visceral, more awkward and imperfect, because that fit her geeky character more and made her more endearing.

The MCU threw all that out for no real reason and made her yet another sparkly, pretty heroine. And the comic editors have been fighting tooth and nail ever since to try and make her more like her MCU version and make her ditch her stretchy powers.

Hell, her first solo mini after her show only backed away from outright replacing her powers at the last second due to both fan backlash and Imran Vellani herself, who wrote the mini, pressing back against it.

Because her powers fucking suck and her costume looks like ass.
What girl wants to be the girl with the ugly costume and giant fists?
Name 5 comic heroines with powersets like that who are liked on any level.

This pissed me the hell off.

I still don't get it. Any reason put forth just makes Marvel look shittier.

They were saving the stretchy powers for Reed? Then just save her until after you do FF, nothing about her is so pressing that it needed to be done then and there.

They can't do stretchy powers on a TV budget? Netflix manages to do it pretty damn well.

They wanted to strip away her uniqueness to fit into the MCU better? Why fucking adapt her at all then?

Don't forget her bangles went from "They're a family heirloom that my grandmother gave to me and that's why they're important" to "Actual, they're alien artifacts that have super duper important lore connections to the ten rings and Kang the conquerer."

It's like Marvel is allergic to having successful, small scale, street level heroes.

Better yet, make fanfiction with accompanying comics. That way you get all the fun of new comics without all the shit that the modern industry requires!

>They were saving the stretchy powers for Reed?
LOL I remember when every single shill had this excuse ready to defend it.
And then the F4 movie comes out and Reed barely uses his powers and when he does it looks like shit and is completely useless
Then the script updated to "Well, his stretching isnt that important anyway!"

Let it go
