nah

>>152220389I don't even go see films in theaters now. I think I'd be more into theater anyway.
JERKING OFF TO SAWYER
Imagine how insane race science in the universe of Cats Don't Dance would be.
>>152220941What kind of cat do you think Health Points Lovecraft would be ?
>>152220996Maybe this one
>>152220996hairless sphynx.
As a kid it always annoyed me how the end credits showed the characters in movies mostly from the 90's instead of the 40's and 50's. Seems like it was some weird contractual cross-promotion thing from WB.
>>152220724I like the alternative timeline where they fail to break the Hollywood system and Danny moves back to the Midwest to slowly work up a career in theater (Sawyer eventually locates and joins him)
>>152222068That would've been cute but also sort of a downer. A funnier ending would be for everything to be the same up until the point when the director and producer guys start acting buddy-buddy with the animals at the end of the film and offer them Hollywood starring roles. Instead of accepting, the animals refuse and tell them to get bent and then they all leave to go make movies in Kokomo which (in a credits montage) gradually becomes the new center of American filmmakling as Hollywood is left behind and driven to bankruptcy. Basically have the entire film be one long setup for that punchline.
>>152220724You don't go now because movies and snacks cost a car payment. Back in the 1930s you'd go in a quarter and leave with change
>>152221665It was because they were taking a risk assuming the audience would get what they were doing then, they needed to have some reference a kid would actually get.
>>152222231>they needed to have some reference a kid would actually get.But anon, I WAS a kid and I DIDN'T enjoy that aspect. I liked cool old detective movies not... Grumpier Old Men? Twister? Whatever. I liked the idea of the Beetlejuice one at least.
>>152222218>and snacksWasn't even common in the 30s and only took off in the late 40s. Tickets were relatively cheap but still cost almost an hours wage for the nicer theaters. I don't go to movies now because the theater experience isn't worth it or a barrier to accessibility when the Sony TV in my living room is better than a bad theater and 90% as good as a good one.
>>152222355Imagine if the producer and costume director really wanted to mess with her, so they added a diaper to her angel costume and put an "out of order" sign on the bathroom door every day before rehearsal

Funny twist of luck how Lauren Faust was originally supposed to be a secondary animator for Danny (she was allegedly going to be in charge of animating his tail) before being assigned to be one of the lead animators for Sawyer.
Can't believe it took me this long to realize that the name "Dolly Dimpley" was probably an homage to "Darla Dimple"

Yes! I've been watching a lot of 30s and 40s movies recently. Effects driven epics are still a bit of a blind spot for me but a musical about Noah's Ark would be a great jumping on point.

Since this is sort of a stealth /film/ thread: I just watched His Girl Friday for the first time and it really was as great as people say (to keep it /co/ related, you can totally tell how Hildy directly influenced Lois Lane over the decades) if you're looking for something to watch this weekend, I'd say it's a must-see.

Alexandra is a widow; Jane is divorced since she can not have a child; and Sukie is divorced because she frequently gets pregnant and has five children. They are sexually repressed and one night, they describe the characteristics of their ideal man while drinking. There is a storm on the town and the mysterious Daryl Van Horne appears in town and buys a notorious mansion. Nobody can recall his name, but he seduces the three friends. Meanwhile the pious Felicia Alden, who is married with Sukie's boss Clyde Alden, has a weird accident and feels that Daryl is the devil. When Felicia dies, Alexandra, Jane and Sukie realize that there is something strange about Daryl. What an odd movie to reference.
