Pepper Ann thread is back....sorta :/
I hope someone will recongize Pepper Ann someday
Question: Who is the character designer of this series?
>>152300701Mrs. Patricia Warburton
>>152300775wrong answer, it's Mr. Patrick Warburton
Guest starring Eltingville
>>152300638I really enjoyed watching every episode of Pepper Ann a few years ago and I appreciated the last episode was so awful I was able to let go and forget it completely. This is one anon who will NOT be coming round the mountain when she comes.
I wonder if El Barto will appeared. She's an pepper ann fanatic
>>152301048he's posting in a pizza hut thread in /ck/
I met somebody . . .
>>152301086I don’t get it
Make a whole cartoon series based on artwork made for pencils
>>152301249Paging Psudonym
>>152300701Patrick Warburton. The original pitch to Nickelodeon just used the YM Magazine comic design (though making her several years younger) but Nick was worried that people would confuse it for Fido Dido and assume it was some sort of marketing rather than a separate thingSo Sue Rose had Warburton help her refine the design since his natural style meshed well with her own. By that point, Nick decided to pass altogether but Disney opted to make it into a show.
>>152300638sorta?>>152300950I remember being a little disappointed, but I liked it as a finale at least.>>152301048I would put 900 dollars on him starting this thread
>>152301406That's correct!
>>152301406>Patrick WarburtonIt was actually Thomas Warburton. Patrick is the VA for Timmy Turner's dad, Joe Swanson, Kronk, and a few other I can't remember rn.
>>152301406imagine execs being so stupid they are using your previous job as a reason not to hire you for a new one. it's not as if Fido Dido was a household namemeanwhile Rick and Morty is like "hey Roiland's art is a bit rough, let's use that studio that made those Pop-tarts commercials. People enjoyed those."
>>152301477>rburtooh yeah, didn't notice
>>152301483>Warburton>rburto>roberto>el bartoOH MY GAH the pieces, the pieces are all fitting together
>>152301407I feel bad for saying awful but Craig being a fat loser and Pepper Ann being a sophisticated female businesswoman able to look down on her high school peers bummed me out. Like the writers really thought they had done something. This was in 2019 so maybe I was overly sensitive.
>>152301477Pretty sure Timmy's dad is voiced by the guy who voices Cosmo. uhh, Daran Norris.
>Pepper Ann's voice did Cathy's voice. No wonder I stuck to Cathy so much. Her voice is just so... So soothing.
>>152301506I hear you, but P-Ann deserved a bone thrown her way. She's female Doug. I wanted her to have a win. Real Doug lost Patti to someone else, it's cathartic for female-Doug's crush to turn out a loser. Nobody watching is meant to identify with him, he's just that mysterious guy some people think is cool, but doesn't actually have any substance..but yeah I suppose I don't love that. I mean it happens. I never saw becoming a fat loser coming, but all it takes is the wrong over the counter medications.
>>152301477>It was actually Thomas Warburton.Damnit, I hate when I do that. >>152301480Most likely they were worried about the potential Pepsi ads that might run during the show; at the time, Fido Dido was used in advertising for Slice in the US and 7UP outside of it,
Question? do anybody have an screenshot of Pepper Ann in a wrestling attire? I couldn't find any
>>152301604ohhhh....okay yeah. But still, there's been plenty of cases of high profile artists using the same style on concurrent ads and shows. I mean to say nothing of the California Raisins, who GOT their own show despite existing to shill old grapes.>>152301612given that a singlet is approximately a swimsuit, that might be your closest bet. though perhaps she at some point had a leotard
>>152300638Trinket was always such a babe
>>152301612If you're talking about like an olympic style wrestling uniform, I don't remember seeing that in the show,There was an episode where a pro wrestler becomes a substitute though and Pepper Ann winds up in this cat costume for her wrestling class.
>>152301802Annnd I forgot the image. That kind of evening.
>>152301819you mean the episode "That's My Mama Destructo"
>>152301819>A platypus?*puts on do-rag*>Gasp! TYRESE the Platypus!?!
>>152302214oh wait you already did the gag in the filename. sorry.what was she actually called in that ep? did they think up personas? or was it just random costumesAlso, Dan and Swampy had already been pitching P+F for ages by this point, could this be a little homage? Prolly not..
do we do art requests in this thread?
>>152302237seems like the least we could do
>>152301406y'know, i've always wanted to integrate more of the YM comics in the materal i do(if this drawing i did wayback is anything)
>>152302268also sure, shoot your shot
>>152302332HE HAS COMETH
after that Nude Bomb incident, that weather machine debacle, and the trauma of his son growing up into Andy Dick, Agent 86 never really recovered. I'm happy to see he just settled down as a middle school principal. That's the ending he deserves.

Can someone draw Nicky Little cosplaying as this heroine girl?
>>152301086I get ithttps://youtu.be/V4aaUM1fHJY
>>152302773nice song title
>>152302227It's most likely a swan since she's terrified of them thanks to a childhood toy. I don't think there's any reference to a persona in that.
>>152300940holy shit it is them. how deep does this tabbitrole go?
>>152300638I've always thought her auntie is quite attractive. Well above average MILF for that era of cartoons.
>>152303073oh. yeah, now that you mention it, that is a swan bill. it even has a band-aid for that sorta band over the bill.>>152303117I loved the women in Peppy's life. The embarrassingly sweet and sickeningly mom-ish mom, the activist hippie aunt, the old canktanerous jewish grandma who isn't having ANY of the hippie aunt's shit... and Nicki, the Larry to her Curly. Truly a Moeless girl if I've ever met one, and yet, so moe.
>>152300638oh btw has smeet got his pepper ann drawings at the ready? i heard he drew some pepper anns but never shared 'em
>>152303192Imagine if he drew Nicky or Trinket fuck that'd be so good

>>152301506>>152301535Her hair style in that episode was so bad that it blocks out pretty much everything that wasn't Alex Trebek as her stepdad and President Mark Hammill.I understand going for something that looks older but they could have modified her hair from the camping episode a bit rather than give her the "Sophia from Golden Girls" look.
>>152303336
>>152300940Is that the Eltingville Club?
>>152303305moose is really cute.>>152303337Yeahhh the hair didn't work.. That.. that was a mistake.
>>152300940Personally I'm more impressed by the Roswell, The Little Green Man reference.
>>152303413I remember watching the pilot
>>152303337i've prolly posted this fan-design by kusam a lot so:
>>152303886oh that is wayyy better. Not sure she'd go that grungey, but she was kinda headed that way. Iunno, the timelines don't line up, really. This is how she would be if she had been a teenager in the late 90s. but i LIKE it. Kusam does good work

>>152303117Sum1 draw Pepper Aunt.

Hey guys, which is your favorite episode of Pepper Ann?
>>152317701It's been so long, I don't remember.I liked the one episode where PA travels with her grandma through her life and you get to see her and Lydia and different stages of life.
Pep-u-la.
>>152300638She looks like a 90s Sprite ad.

>>152316986there was that one time:
(this too)
>>152311830Everything is a fetish.
>>152319053I'm surprised you hardly draw much of the cast given you like the show so much. Or I guess Peppie only has a strong pull on you.I don't really know what to request if you're looking for them. I remember a disco Pepper Ann scene, cause that was considered retro at the time, and the 80s were not there yet for nostalgia. How about a 1980s styled Pepper Ann with some cool duds and hair style like she's straight from 1985?
>>152320477Wasn't there some non-US comics only published overseas?
>>152320477what kind of name is MOOSE

>>152320068If it's requests he wants how about Peppy or Nicky as a flapper girl?
>>152314718I didn't read this whole comic but they did touch on that in the showthey have this whole 'we gotta push for female equality' shit and Peppy was like, completely unfamiliar with the concept, and told them girls can already do anything they want.. and they were like.. oh fuck we've been wasting our lives.

>>152320477>airborne againI love it>>152320565Nickname. Her actual name is Margaret Rose. I too would use a nickname if I had been saddled with that unfortunate appellation. It also makes her kind of a fun counterpart to Pepper Ann whose real name was Jennifer Ann but she changed it because there were too many Jennifers.
>>152320924I'm not sure how I'd draw her.. I wouldn't wanna stick with noodly, but.. not sure what else would be fitting. Same challenge as with Amphibia.>>152321556>in POG formI wish. God damn do I miss POGs. I even found some great containers the same size as the old POG containers, but.. weirdly for pieces of cardboard, they are NOT cheap to grab online.
>>152322087oh that explains why I didn't remember>>152322111He's got a webcomic, too. Life in the Third Lane. Funny shit. he just fuckin.. uses Snoopy because why the fuck not? This is the internet, you wanna use Snoopy? Nobody's gonna come sue you. The dog is out of work.
>>152323123eh I’ve seen some artists just draw her with regular anatomycase in point:
>>152322592Totally tubular! That sweater screams 1980s, and the leg warmers and converse are also good. Maybe could have done something with the hair to drive the package home, but its sallright, looks like she is on her way to an 80s themed party. Thanks.
>>152323434yeah you know that kinda works. feels a lil generic PBS but.. I could make it work.I should watch that show again. Really get back in that mindset. Those characters were my age, pretty sure, give or take. Livin it up like I sure didn't get to. I did TRY to rollerblade as a smaller child, but.. balance never really came to me, and there's no good way of stopping.
could she have taken on Effie in a fight provided she had a strategy?

I wanted to reply sooner but I've been busy.>>152303911>eyyy goggles and flippers guy. Read this in Fonzie's voice.>It's nice to see you. And to keep your lens clean.>>152304573>>152311110Thank you very much, I feel lucky to receive such a drawing from you, PA's biggest fan. It was neat you posted the WIP, to give insight in how you construct things. Always liked your art, expressive and flexible toon style that works well with several types of characters. It must be a bit of a curse to be a big fan of an older show where it must feel you're doing all the heavy lifting regarding character fanart and you want to see others drawing her more often. It's not much, but I tried: https://litter.catbox.moe/q9b9nr.pngRegarding the pic you drew, is that the full size? I like to ask as sometimes artists shrink their drawings for posting, and I prefer the original resolution.>>152312091>None of that haha wonder what yoshi's eggs smell like haha just kidding but maybeI sensibly chuckled over this.
>>152325704penultimate episode of the former
>>152325840>returning fanart for fanartwhat a nice thing to do. Not bad either. I take it you're using a mouse?>>152325875oh wow. Timeline doesn't line up, but that's cartoons for ya.
>>152325521So it's also the same universe as Billy and Mandy, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and The Owl House.
>>152325995and via Owl House you get to Gravity Falls and then Rick and Morty
>>152325879>Not bad either.Don't be fooled, the oval tool makes it look much better than it is.>I take it you're using a mouse?Mouse, Paint, no layers, no stabiliser. My refs: https://litter.catbox.moe/266fe7.pngShe is one of those characters where you cannot deviate much from the design or else it looks completely off. Her hair had been sweating and that thick style of clothes is hard to get right.
>>152326153well I think you nailed it. Looks a lot like my old mouse drawn stuff but a little better. At this point you might as well get a tablet and start doin' it for reeeaal. then you can put EVERYBODY in goggles and flippers.
>>152326057And from Rick and Morty you have both The Simpsons and Looney Tunes, both franchises that already have branches upon branches, such as Family Guy and how it shares a universe with Peppa Pig (Season 18 episode "Connie's Celica"), or all of the stuff that makes an appearance in Space Jam: A New Legacy, like the aforementioned Flintstones and Yogi Bear (who already had made a connection with The Flintstones as he and Boo-Boo cameo'd in one episode)Then from there you have Jellystone, which connects to a large selection of Hanna-Barbera's old pipeline, and then Harvey Birdman from there (Peter Potamus being a notable character), to The Brak Show, to Space Ghost, to Aqua Teen Hunger Force, to Soul Quest Overdrive... And then of course there's Pepper Ann's singular appearance in The House of Mouse, which connects her series to the entire Walt Disney Animation Studios pantheon up to 2001, which later made an appearance in both Once Upon A Studio and the 2022 Chip n Dale movie... First for OUAS, that included Wreck-it Ralph, connecting things together with Pac-Man, Street Fighter, Super Mario, Q*Bert, Sonic and a bunch other video game franchises, and from Sonic we have Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, connected with Avatar: The Last Airbender, TMNT, Minecraft, Hatsune Miku and SpongeBob SquarePants, and from there we get a connection to Alvin and the Chipmunks (the series intro makes a brief appearance at one point in the first live-action movie) and David Hasselhoff, connecting Pepper Ann to the real world, and then from Q*Bert we have a connection to Pixels, which includes Donkey Kong and Max HeadroomAnd for Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers, you again have the WDAS pantheon, but also MC Skat Kat from the Opposites Attract music video, Roger Rabbit, E.T., Batman, Johnny Bravo, Phineas and Ferb, Ugly Sonic from the original trailer for the first Sonic movie, MLP FiM, He-Man, Indiana Jones, South Park, and even DreamWorks' animated films
>>152326528And through South Park we get a mild connection to Droopy the Dog, and them Tom & Jerry from there, who of course had those movies where they crossed over with (or more like, just existed in) The Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory; The latter classic work of fiction having a prequel film starring Timothee Chalamet who was namedropped in a recent episode of The Amazing World of Gumball, introducing connections to Clarence, Regular Show and Uncle Grandpa, from there we have Steven Universe and Adventure Time, and Flapjack from there... Back to Mario, that connects things to the filmography of not just Illumination, but also Blue Sky Studios and Don Bluth (Meladandri was in charge of 20th Century Fox Animation by the time Titan A.E. had come out).Had B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations come out, that coulda introduced a connection from that to Casper the Friendly Ghost to Harvey Street Kids (it's revealed that Casper was a B.O.O. agent in one scene)I also just remembered, The Simpsons also connects to Ren & Stimpy, which already connects to a majority of the Nicktoons line-up, including Doug, and Hey Arnold, connecting from Sesame Street, The Muppets, Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas, and Fraggle RockWhat else is there... The current Sonic comics are published by IDW, which also published comics for Hasbro franchises such as Transformers and Micronauts, connecting things to the unreleased Micronauts TV series, while the previous Sonic comics came from Archie, obviously connecting things to that franchise, as well as that Riverdale showAnd of course there's Super Smash Bros. which connects things to more stuff like Fire Emblem, EarthBound, Tekken and Banjo-Kazooie, and then you got Rareware's stuff like Jet Force Gemini, Conker, Dinosaur Planet and Viva PinataPoint is, there are branches upon branches upon branches of connected universes, both cartoon and real, so Pepper Ann ends up connected with what feels like everything
>>152326602of course, that all depends on what you consider "canon" for that matter(speaking of which, we rly need to do a retake on that tommy westphall theory, that was way too loose)
>>152319053Only really missing the lovely Gwen Mezzrow.
Pepper Ann farted in a can with a plan to get a man who got a ban for hitting Dan with a pan on his head who is dead, filled with lead from the night before he had sex with a whore who he wanted more, she found him immature then took out a gun which was fun cause the grip was done and smooth like the groove of a dude who was rude but had a tongue like no one.
My favorite character is Milo

>>152335822fair, that's how both of my parents felt about art. It's weird, they were incredible for people who never practiced. Real innate talent, but had no interest in pushing it anywhere. Dad would just randomly do a photoperfect drawing of a ship with no reference, and mom would just draw perfectly balanced cartoon people in a greeting card...

>>152314718>>152321514Its come up in threads before but the issue mainly boils down to women being socialized to think any unknown man is a potential rape risk and so actively avoiding any location with a high population of men without a already existing decently sized female presence unless they are traveling in a pack. The only ones who don't get the memo are the autistic ones who didn't pick up on the implicit socialization or the nerdy ones who didn't have a strong social circle.
>>152338775I find that hard to believe, but you've given me no reason to doubt you. I guess I'm glad more people care about best Pep.>>152338837yeah that is sad. and particularly, any particularly MANLY man is seen as the worst threat, leading to decades now of girls only wanting the smallest, most effeminate guys.Is it that hard to understand that a GROUP of men will prevent any one of them from raping you? It's in our nature to protect. Don't go anywhere ALONE with a strange man, that's been valid advice for thousands of years, but DO go where there's -lots- of men. Who would sit by and let one guy do something he shouldn't, while they're all standing around, unable to join in? jealousy ALONE would cockblock that nonsense. Not to mention if we beat the shit out of him, now we all look heroic and she might select one of us.
>>152338798cool; i’ll keep the thread on
Remember that time Trinket was dressed all sexy with the twintails?
The big thing I remember about Pepper Ann was from the sitcom Student Bodies where all the male characters go on a road trip and during it they talk about attractive girls and the antagonist of the first season says he found Pepper Ann hot. It's also /co/ related because they included animated shorts in every episode.
>>152339237also pinky and the brain referenced her a few times so there’s that

>>152346974To be really specific, Pepper Ann, like Daria, works on the cusp of the new millennium. >>152348555just saying, drawing in the actual show's style rarely suits it, because those styles were not developed with the nude body in mind. You often notice even in swimsuits they look a bit odd.
>>152348576>because those styles were not developed with the nude body in mind. You often notice even in swimsuits they look a bit odd. That's why you gotta take the original design and add very subtle curves in the right places. Not enough to go off model, but juuuust enough to give the body a bit more, shall we say, "oomph".I remember a scene from an episode, a dream sequence, where Pepper, Milo, and Niks are going to steal something, they they are all in purple suits. Tight suits. I remember Pepper Ann having a little bit more form to the body. I tried googling for this but I am not sure if this was the correct one from Permanent Record (this doesn't look like a dream). I swear there was one where they steal a jewel.
>>152348716>(this doesn't look like a dream).I say that and there are fucking lasers in the image, omegakek I am retarded.

>>152348716okay, yeah, if you're REALLY good, you can pull that off.but I think that typically comes from placing equal points in 'cartoon show style' and 'sexy anatomy style' and then blending what you've learned. our good Simpsons graffiti reference here seems to have put all the points in the former. I could be wrong though, maybe he should try. But not everyone's into that.>screenshothuh, that's interesting. sometimes cartoons DO do that.. and their figures look really different depending on their outfits.>>152348737lasers are real!

>>152349267study*
>>152346995>i'd watch the fuck out of this. Especially if she STILL talks to her reflection, but now it's about motherhoodSame boat. Honestly, it's interesting to thick how characters who were once either outright or somewhat stereotypically like the target audience of that time, but now they're older with their own kids. Will they cling on to that bygone time? Will they be like their folks? Will they be better, or worse?Like take pic related, the artist envisioned Max to be somewhat like his dad, trying to play and sing along to music from his youth with his kid.Or one that was actually done, Little Mermaid 2. Ariel turns out to have gotten the same bad parenting vibe from her farther. Just like how Triton didn't explain to Ariel HOW humans could be dangerous (and then destroys her collection), Ariel doesn't explain WHY Melody (her kid) can't get anywhere near the sea, while also keeping the fact she's part mermaid a secret.
>>152349563i personally like the dynamic where one kid gets along better with each parentis THAT what happened in little mermaid 2? interesting. But in her case, it's probably pretty hard to explain without spilling the beans. whereas Triton.. Triton my man, you are a demigod. You should know full well it's not humans who are the problem.
>>152349712>is THAT what happened in little mermaid 2?Yeah. Basically years pass, Ariel and Eric go back out to sea to see Triton and the rest of the family to show off baby Melody, everything is well until Ursala's crazy sister Morgana comes in, crashes the party to try and kill Melody in revenge. Triton scares her off, she swears revenge, and the Ariel says she's gonna keep the whole mermaid thing a secret from Melody, even taking the gift Triton gave to her (a locket). Ariel and Eric have wall built around the beach next to the castle and the movie goes from there. The problem is the movie is one of those who's whole plot can be avoid if Ariel had just fucking told Melody that there's a crazy sea witch out to get her and that she's part mermaid (which is why she doesn't feel like she fits in with the other kids).
>>152349756yeah butI feel like to people back then, the idea that the secret keeps you safe just made sense. When it's personal and about you.. it's like if the fairies ever told Briar Rose "by the way we're raising you because Maleficent wants to fucking kill you" it would have only made things worse maybe. Iunno, from their perspective it makes sense, for us, we've seen this plot 100 times, so

>>152358044How dare you, im as old as pepper if she aged in real time.
>>152357856There's not much known about the Pepper Ann's Rio Adventure pitch beyond that it was a pitch for an extended length episode where the Hazelnut soccer team goes to Rio. Nobody outside of the staff was even aware of it until some of the concept art was auctioned off a while back.It could have been a special, a DTV movie, or even pitched for a theatrical release for all we know. >>152348833>...ithink i just didn't see itDo you only read half the reply when you receive one?>honestly it all depends on bandwidth if thats anythingBandwidth has to do with Internet. Are you meaning RAM usage while drawing? Or the final image file size (kilobytes) once done? Surely it ain't that big to be a problem, I have rarely seen you post full colored pics.As said when I receive any art from people I ask for the full size (resolution) since many artists draw large and shrink it, and sometimes that ruins the line quality and softens fine details. That is what I asked from you, was the pic you drew me posted here at full size. Can you answer that, s'il te plaît?
>>152351969Why hasn't anyone drawn a Pepper Ann crossed with a Brazilian Miku? Like give Pepper a tan but Miku's hair and hair colors. Also you KNOW being a red head Pepper would BURN in that hot sun.
>>152360525yeahhh there would definitely be a spoof of elaborate batman suit-up sequences while P-Ann put on her six layers of sunblock. All the hebraic genes in her body are not enough to overcome the ginger curse.
>>152360509ohye that’s full size aight; a lot of my drawings are usually 1080-1440 pixels wide/tall at most so
Lmao I know el barto takes commissions, how the heck does that process work when he himself admits he's bad at online communication? Communication is everything when buying drawings to make the process flow well. Do you literally gotta ring him up on the rotary phone and talk to him? Otherwise I can see clients pulling their hair out dealing with him.
>>152360598Not sure, but I did a couple for him in the past, and my main thought was "this guy is a better artist than I am, why is he coming to me?"
>>152360566I assume you are the guy with the artful parents. You are well worded, I would still like to see your art, Pepper Ann or otherwise.>>152360617Two things - 1, he saw a greatness in you that you as an artist might not see in yourself (all artists are their own worse critic). And 2 - while he can draw all the Pepper Ann he wants till the cows come home, nothing quite hits like the feeling of getting new artwork of your favorite character(s) when they are drawn by someone else other than yourself.Would you mind posting any Peppers? I bet you're not nearly as bad as you claim to me.
>>152360691Thanks you, Anon. Bout time somebody recognizing me by my talkwords has something positive to say.Yeah but it wasn't even Pepper Ann he had me drawin'. I have never actually drawn her, I'm not 100% sure how I even would. But.. maybe I should. I did enjoy that show
>>152360775Oh El B paid you for drawings that were not Peppers? Color me surprised. Are you a drawfag that sometimes uses a trip, per chance? I am getting a vibe. A rather cold one.
>>152360590>ye that’s full size aight; a lot of my drawings are usually 1080-1440 pixels wide/tall at most soThank you! I am happy to know that it is, indeed, the full size. The image dimensions caught my attention especially because some websites, like Instagram, shrink posted images down to a default size, like 1080p. So it was my thinking that perhaps you sized it down to post here, in preparation to post it somewhere else where you share your art where it falls inline with that websites default image size.I might be pushing my luck here asking you another question but I am sorta curious - the brush you use for your final lines, kinda has a crayon like texture. Any reason why that's your fave? Sometimes I think it would be neat for you to experiment with brushes. The Rio book cover image is an good example, since you draw smaller the more darker lines work a little better, imo.For the wip you posted of my drawing it was interesting to me to see you sketch with a solid brush. It gives the image a different feel, a bit more dynamic feeling. Although that might also be the old adage of the sketch portion of a drawing looking more lively than the final lines because at the sketch stage you're more "loose" planning things out.
>>152360841I'll tell you that secret, but first YOUUuu gotta do something for MEee..I need a coool teen pose. something like hanging out against a brick wall, you know how teens used to do. all cool and all.
