I need more comics about guys exploring lost civilizations and going on crazy adventures. Tarzan, Conan and John Carter are obvious picks but I'm looking for stuff that's less well known. Other examples:Girl GeniusAdele Blanc-SecCyborg 009
>>152314412I'm guessing you already know Storm (by the same artist as Trigan Empire)?
>>152314615Only vaguely. Where can I read it?
>>152314412Warlord by Mike Grell is a hollow earth sword and sorceryCarl Barks explored this trope a few times, Lost in the Andes and Tralla La are good examples
>>152314652Warlord is terrific. I really go in for the lost world barbarian jazz.
>>152314412Turok wasn't just an N64 game. Also It's not REALLY a lost world story but you should read Xenozoic Tales (Cadillacs and Dinosaurs)
Ciudad by Barreiro/Gimenez is about a couple trapped in an endless city
>>152314412wish I could be of greater help..
>>152314639Not a clue, I have it on my shelf. It's better than Trigan Empire.
>>152314412I thought this was boring.
>>152314412In addition to John Carter, there's several Carson Of Venus adaptations as well. When he wasn't bopping around the known kingdoms, Flash Gordon was often mixing it up with lost civs.
>>152317077Have you taken leave of your senses?!
>>152317077It's alright for as long as the artist is on the book, but it's very repetitive
>>152314412Is a bronze age aesthetic required?
>>152318293probably a more Antiquity meets sci-fi aesthetic that probably defines the Trigan Empire the most The middle panel were a bunch of Greek hoplite guys using rayguns in a last stand encapulates it the best
>>152314412Ka-Zar?
>>152314412
>>152317716No.>>152317798The art is nice and crisp, but the format works against it.
>>152320987The format is fine when you remember it was two pages every month is was never really intended to be collected in big omnibuses that Rebellion produced for the series. The problem mostly comes from the lack of story progression post the first story arc, after that it's just the same status quo for the entire series, even though it starts by telling the reader that the entire world the comic is set on and trigan Empire has died with no surviors
>>152314412tarzan
>>152321122It's not fine, it's just what it is.
interesting
>>152320094You're on thin ice, buddy
What about post-apocalyptics like Kamandi and Mighty Samson? The lost civilization is us.
>>152323365true
>>152314412lost city explorers
>>152323365Dying Earth stories would work as well
Have you read Valerian?
>>152326577Warlord actually ran one of these as a backup feature, The Barrren Earth. (and a followup miniseries)
>>152328468i guess that makes sense.Dying Earth and the Sword and Sorcery genres have a lot in common
>>152314412Worlds of Aldebaran
>>152314851>about a couple trapped in an endless cityHold up, wait a minute...
>>152329084Not like that, it's more of a surreal dreamlike place with no end rather than a sci fi hellscape like in Blame.
Batman Odyssey
>>152331545How do you figure that?
